Chapter 4

Rebecca POV

Present-day

I regret not shutting my big mouth ever since.

"What "

"You will be staying with your finance, get to know each other, the wedding is in five days, you two have so much to learn in so little time "

"But father - "

'No buts, you agreed to this "

"That was a mistake, I thought you were going to give me the company to run, not some power-hungry billionaire who knows nothing about the family business "

"I assure you that Marcus is well educated about the business and when did I give you the impression that I would hand down the family business to you, the business has always been handled by men and unfortunately I had only girls and I trust Marcus with my business"

"More than you trust me, your own flesh and bones," I said, I felt betrayed, I worked so hard for the day that he would finally see me, see that I could do great things for the company of he would only let me.

"Yes Becca and you know my views on this topic, so I don't know why you decided to bring this up. Let me tell you this for the last and final time. Women have no place running a company, and as my father and his father before him and so on, men have always been the head of the business and it will stay that way. Now stop being a brat and go home with your finance and get to know him, if you want because whether you like it or not you will be spending the rest of your life with this man " he said and I knew that there was no place of discussion, my father always had the final say

"I never had this much problems when your sisters were getting married," he said, I hated when my father said this, he also says things like this to guilt me into doing what he wants. My other sister and younger sister had arranged marriages too and based on what my father said, they were happy. But he didn't know shit. Claire, my older sister just found out that her husband of four years is cheating on her, she plans to leave him but she doesn't know if she can. Between father and her pregnancy, she doesn't know if she should leave and raise the child on her own or stay with him for her child. My advice is to leave his sorry ass. Susan, my younger sister, who is two years younger than me got married a year ago. The couple is happy, he's a good man; Susan got lucky.

I turned around and left the building, I heard footsteps, so I knew he was following me

"I'll drop you home," he said before he went for his car, his penthouse was thirty minutes away from his company and twenty minutes away from dads New York branches. When we arrived I went straight to his guest room, I didn't have anything to say to him and he didn't have anything to say to me. This marriage is certainly going to be fun

It's been two days since I started living with Marcus. We hardly saw each other, Marcus would go to work before I woke up and came back late, I don't mind, these past two days I've been trying to get out of this predicament I'm in.

We were currently sitting in the kitchen together having breakfast, today I'm supposed to meet his family. I heard that his family found out he was getting married only three days ago, he knew for over two months I honestly don't know why he took so long to tell them.

"We will be leaving in five minutes," he said as he gets up and walks away, these are the first words he's said to me since morning. He normally sends his messages through his maid. To think he would put out more effort.

You haven't made any effort either

Well, it's different, he was the one who agreed to this disaster of a soon to be marriage.

I made my way to the garage where I met Marcus.

"Are you nervous?" he asked

"Why should I be "

Soon we were at the family mansion, on the way Marcus told me a little bit about each of his family members. We were walking towards the door when Marcus took my hand in his.

"Why are you holding my hand "

"It's all apart of the act "

He reached out and rang the bell and that's when the nervous feeling came. If I'm gonna marry Marcus, i would at least get his family to like me or my life will be more of a pain than it already is.

The door opened
