Chapter 29

Marcus' P.O.V

We spend thirty more minutes before we left the party, the car ride back home was ackward to say the least. I wondered what happened while I was gone, she seems so closed off and deep in thought.

"Are you okay " I asked

"I'm fine "she replied but I didn't believe her she was keeping something from me.

We are at home and she immediately jumped out of the car and walked inside. I left the doors and went in after her.

"Will you just talk to me "i honestly wanted to know what was wrong with her, I was concerned.

"Where were you "she asked, I didn't want to tell her what happened yet because I didn't want her to worry.

"I was assisting my assistant with a problem, you know that already" it wasn't a lie but it wasn't the old truth either.

"Are you sure that's all that you did "i was confused what was she getting at

"Yes that's all that I did "

" I just don't believe you "

"Why"

" I feel like your keeping something from me and I want to know what it is"

It's better if I tell her what happened then let her assume the worst.

"Okay I'll tell you "she looks surprised that I said I will tell her, I think she expected me to put up more of a fight which led me to think what really was she thinking

"When I went to the room my assistant wasn't there, Madison was there."

"Why would Madison be there" she asked confused

"At first I didn't know but then she said she was filling in for my assistant so I let it slide. But then thirty minutes past and we were finished, I got a call from my assistant asking me where I was and why I wasn't at the party. I told her that she was the one that message me and we said she didn't text me and she couldn't find her phone" I continued to tell her about the toast, the drugs and Madison's disappearance

"So you weren't cheating on me" she said more to herself but I heard.

"Where did you get that idea from? I would never cheat on you" she laughed as I said that showing that he didn't believe me.

"I know about the kiss" she said after some time

"The kiss" I asked confused

"Cut the crap okay, I know you kissed Octavia, I just don't know if  you went further" I forze, how did she find out.

"From the expression on your face, I gather that I wasn't suppose to find out"

"It's not like that"

"Then what is it like " I feel silent, I didn't know what to say.

"Why didn't you tell me" Honestly, the kiss happened months ago and I forgot about it, I knew I couldn't tell Rebecca that.

"It was a mistake"

"Once is a mistake but you didn't it twice. You knew exactly what you were doing" her voice shook slightly.

"I'm sorry that I hurt you" I said sincerely.

"You think I'm hurt " she laughed coldly, her guards were up now. It was like we were back to square one and all those months never happened.

"You aided me in getting what I've wanted from the beginning"

"And what's that" I asked

"The company and a way out of this marriage. You've broken our contract and now the company is all mine" That stung, I wasn't going to lie. I thought that after we agreed to make our relationship real, the contract wouldn't be a problem anymore. But I knew I hurt her and I deserved it.

"I'm sorry"

"Are you"

"Please, forgive me " I hope she could. I know that I screwed this up but I was willing to do anything to fix it.

"I need some time to think "

"Yeah, take all the time you need"

Rebecca left and a hour later came back with a suitcase saying that she was going to stay with her father for a while. I was surprised but I didn't stop her.

I rang up James and we went to the bar together, as you know it's hard to get this man away from his family.

When we arrived , we got some drinks and I started to tell him what happened. He was shocked that Madison tried to drug me, he didn't see why she would a motive to, we have all known each other for years. He was also angry at me for screwing things up with Rebecca. After a while he spoke.

"You know what's funny, five years ago we were in this same spot but the role were reversed. I was the one in deep shit and you were going to help me out of it. But Marcus I have to say that I don't know how to help you . You did cheat, you did break her trust and only time can tell how this will tell how this pay out"

I knew that, I just how that she can find it in her heart to forgive me.
