Chapter 10

Marcus P.O.V

I was shocked when I heard Rebecca say that name. It's been ten years since I heard that name and even though it's been ten years it still hurts. I thought I was over it, I thought I was over her but I guess I'm not, she still affects me.

I immediately walk out of the room, I couldn't let Rebecca see how weak and broken I got at a simple thing; her name.

The cold wind felt so good upon my skin, I stayed there for; I don't know how much time trying to compose my self, trying to build up the wall around my heart that I spent so many years protecting.

Then my mind drifted to Rebecca, I couldn't let her in, no matter what. She deserves so much better.

And with that I walked back inside, Rebecca was already fast asleep and I sighed in relief that I wasn't about to be questioned.

We spent a few more days of sightseeing before we went back home. Rebecca's dad planned a meeting schedule two days after we returned and Rebecca was thrilled. It seems as if Octavia was out of sight, out of mind.

The morning of the meeting went smoothly,
Rebecca was up early and by the look on her face, I knew she was nervous. I was slightly nervous too but Rebecca deserves this position. She was very hardworking and base on sources, she has been able to make investors that her father has had struggles convincing to invest in his company, invest. She put extra works, took on tough projects just to show her father she was worthy.

And today she will get what she's been working so hard for.

So on our way to my office, I kept on telling her that everything will be alright because it would be and she always gave me a gentle smile.

We had the wait ten minutes before the meeting began, Mr. Parks came two minutes before

"What are you doing here Rebecca?" He asked, I never knew he was opposed to his daughter being present but he would have to deal with it.

"I invited her "

"Why," he asked

"Because this involves her too" before he could say anything our lawyers and my father entered. Dad doesn't normally interfere after he retired but he didn't want Mr. Parks to screw me over after I have done my part of the bargain.

"Like everyone is present let this meeting begin" everyone took a seat that was placed in my office, it was a big meeting so I didn't use the conference room.

"Because everyone is aware of what we are gathered here for, we will just make this quick and simple so I can go enjoy retirement" he laughed and my father clucked.

"Marcus you have done your part of this bargain and now it's time to do mine," he said as he signed the contracted and then passed it to me and I signed.

"It's official now, you are the new owner of my company," he said smiling  " I'm happy that I gave it to you, you will not only be taking care of my daughter but my company too."

"You don't have to worry about either  of them," I said and he nodded

Then I spoke again  " As the new owner, my first order of business will be to make my wife Rebecca Knight CEO " everyone was shocked, everyone except Rebecca, my father, and my lawyer.

"What, you can do that," Mr. Parks said angrily

"Yes he can, it is not legally his company and he can do whatever he wants, " my lawyer says, Mr. Parkes looked at his lawyer and he nodded.

"You did this," he said pointing at Rebecca, his face red with anger.

"I have no idea what you're talking about father," she said then smirked.

Her father left shortly

Rebecca ran up to me and hugged me, I was taken aback by the gesture but returned it.

"This calls for a celebration," she said and we did

We had a couple of drinks even if it was 10 am in the morning, no seems to care

After an hour, Rebecca left to go home, dad and my lawyer left shortly after.

I was in such I good mood that when my assistant told me that there was someone here to meet me and I didn't even wait for her to state the person's name before I told her to send them in. But I soon regret it.

"Marcus " I stopped everything I was doing, I knew that voice and it didn't bring good memories

I looked up to see my worst nightmare.
