Chapter 27

Rebecca's POV

" Dad "I said the surprise clear in my voice. What was he doing here? Dad made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with me, nothing to do with us when Marcus backstab him. If it was up to him and if he had not already signed over the company to Marcus, he would ruin us. Well mostly me, the knights is a very powerful and influenced family so he couldn't do s*** but me he could. Without the knights he would drag me through the dirt.

Without the contract Marcus would have never went for a girl like me. I would say I'm a confident girl but everyone has insecurities. And the girls that Marcus usually go for are always blondes or brunettes, skinny, supermodels are actresses. Look at his ex-girlfriend for example.

"Rebecca, it's so nice to see you "what was my dad up to, he's glad to see me, was this a joke? I looked at him warily, my guards were up. I was prepared for whatever he planned the throw at me.

"Cut the crap dad, why are you here "I was not having any of it you. Whatever he wanted to say, he would just have to get straight to the point and then leave my house.

"Huh... Okay, can we have some privacy "he said, I wanted to tell him that whatever he wanted to say, he could say it before Marcus but Mark has beat me to it and said this instead.

"Okay, I'll be in the kitchen. Call me if you need anything"he said Kissing me before walking away.

"Look how good your marriage turned out "he said, I knew he wanted to say more and I knew they were alone the line because of me.

"Did you come here to boast or something because if you did, you can leave now " if you thought I was going to let you take credit for what was happening between Marcus and I, she was sadly mistaken. Marcus and I enjoys each other's company that's why we both decided to me our relationship official, it is beneficial for both of us and it had nothing to do with my father.

"No, that is not what I came here for and I'm sorry that I gave you that impression. I've been going over our last conversation and I have realized how I have been wrong. I'm so sorry, I was so caught up in the thought that women are not capable of running a business. And my old fashion way of thinking drove a wage between us. And what I'm trying to say is that, I'm so sorry for doubting you and not believing in you and also that I miss my little girl "

Saying that I was shocked was an understatement, my dad, Mark Parker was apologizing. I was so confused, was this genuine. Was my father really sorry for what you did?

"I.." I started to stutter, I didn't know why call, I was clearly surprise and I didn't know how to answer him. "I need time to think, please leave "

He looks shocked not expecting that I will kick him out anyways, what's he shouldn't be shocked. After what happened, he should have expected that I wouldn't just accept him with open arms. An apology wasn't always going to fix. Dad apologized many times in the past and still didn't change.

"Excuse me"

"I said to leave dad" he nodded and started to walk towards the door.

Minutes after he left, I still stood there frozen.

"Are you okay" Marcus asked , his voice snapping me out of my thoughts.

" Yes, I'm just tired " I said before walking towards our room.

As soon as I got into the bedroom a tear slipped from my eye. I wiped it away furious at myself for being so weak. I changeed and climb into bed.

A hour passed and I still couldn't fall asleep because of all that was going on in my mind. Marcus came in 10 minutes ago and I pretended that I was asleep. I guess he bought it because I could hear his snores.

I tried to focus on Marcus instead of my father and soon I was asleep.

It's been a week and a half since dad came over, I've not contacted him yet what time response because I simply didn't have one. Susan called me asking about life, it was nice to talk to her until she brought up. Of course she knew, dad told her everything. That made I thought pop up, dad told her everything, so did she know that Dad was going to give the company to someone else but me and why didn't she tell me. The call ended in an argument and both of us saying very hurtful things that we didn't mean.

I was currently at a office party that was held at one of the knight's many hotels. I thought it was weird stop Marcus wanted to have it here, it was a office party, why not have it at the party.

Either way it was fun and I got to meet new people and possible business partners. Marcus got a call from his assistant thing that there was something urgent that needed his attention, so he had to slip away for sec.

But then an hour passed and I still hadn't heard from him.

"Worried are we" someone said, I turned around and saw that it was Octavia, Marcus' ex-girlfriend. She looks beautiful but that was beside the point.

"What are you doing here "I spat, Octavia became one of my least favorite person's after she tried so be my friends to get to Marcus.

"Oh just passing by"

"Well can't you pass by faster"

"Okay kitten, I'll be out of your way pretty soon. I just want to share some knowledge"

" Oh Please, what would you possibly have to say that will interest me" I started to walk off but the name she said made me stop in my track.

"What do you have to say about Marcus "

"Oh now you want to hear me "

"Cut the crap and just tell me whatever you have to say because you clearly wanted to spill"

"I know that you are aware of Marcus' reputation. Marcus have never been a guide to settle for only one girl, every girl that interested him wanted to change him. So the question is, did you really think you could change him?"

"What are you getting at"

"would you believe me if I told you that Marcus was cheating on you"

"What, of course not"

"I expected that you would see that" she reaches for something inside her bag, it was a key.

"This key is for room 401, it's on the fourth floor. Follow your instinct and if I were you I would go to that room and find out the truth" she said before handing me the key.

"Where did you get this from"

"It doesn't matter, what matter is if you decide to go you might find out the truth it depends on if you want to know" she walked off.

My head started to spin. A question hunted me, would Marcus cheat on me?
