Chapter 13

After a week of planning, we settled on having the baby shower on a Sunday, the day that the family gets together and surprise Katelyn.

I was so delighted that I was being involved in family activities. I thought that they would treat me differently because Marcus and my marriage are based on a business deal but they welcome me with open arms.

After three days Marcus was surprisingly back to normal and living with him became a breeze. He thinks I'm capable to run a business, even though I had to give him a slight push in the right direction, he believes in me and that's all I could ever ask for.

Marcus visited the company twice during the week, he gave me my space to do my work and appreciate that, and every day after work we would sit down in the living room with two glasses of wine and tell each other about over day.

He isn't as bad as I thought he was but that doesn't mean I like him.

Currently we were having breakfast, it is a Sunday and today is the day of the baby shower, I was so excited.

"Where are you going," he asked when I got up.

"Gonna help Sophia set up for the baby shower today"

"You and Sophia have been getting along great "

"Yeah, I'm glad your family likes me or this whole situation would be awkward "

"Yeah" he said then clucked

"Are you coming with me" I asked

"No, I'll be there later "

"Okay" I run upstairs and got ready. I wore a red crop top, black high waisted pants, and black sneakers. I walked towards the door and I could feel someone's eyes on me, I looked back to see Marcus looking at me. He licked his lips as his eyes darken

After I arrived we started decorating, it was fun. We told each other stories and we cooked together with the help of the cook. By the time everyone started arriving, we were finished.

Everyone arrived before Katelyn and her family, we deliberately told them a later date.

So when they arrived, Katelyn was so surprised she started crying. We had dinner, then we opened presents and had a photoshoot. After everything, everyone dressed in white for the gender reveal.

Everyone was excited, no one knew the gender except Sophia and me.

Everyone gathered in the backyard, Katelyn and her husband Jason stood before the cake, button in hand.

Katelyn pushed the button and the cake exploded and we were covered with blue paint.

The family congratulated the couple and the party went on

When Marcus and I arrived home, I got a text from Octavia asking if we could have lunch together tomorrow, seeing that she was in New York. I said yes and I don't tell Marcus about it. Marcus did let slip that Octavia is his ex but Octavia acted as if she didn't know him. Why would an ex want to befriend the wife?

During work the other day I went to have lunch with Octavia.

When I walked up to her she looked genuinely happy to see me.

"Hey stranger," she said as she giggles and hugs me.

"Hi, I didn't know you were in New York "

" Yeah, I arrived yesterday, thought I'll hit you up "

"Kl" we continued to talk and ordered something to eat

While eating, she asked me something that made a suspicion grow.

"How's your husband "

"He's good, why are you asking?"

"Oh nothing, just trying to be polite "

"Do you know my husband?"

"No" and that puzzled me, Marcus admitted that they dated but she's acting like she doesn't know him. What does she want to achieve out of befriending me?. What's her goal?
