"I can't believe you did that. Bucky you suck so much I can't even put it into words!" Cate said to him as she put her head on the table.
"Not words doll. Lyrics! You're almost up!" He said to her with a wide smile on his lips. Cate looks to Loki and Thor for an escaped but they find it just as amusing as Bucky.
"I'm sure you'll do just fine, Cate." Steve said reassuringly wrapping his arm around her. Cate gave him a smile.
"I have no ides what to sing." She said looking at Captain.
"Sing a song that you can relate to. I'm sure you'll do fine." He said to her.
After s few people have gone up to sing, it was now Cate's name who was called up. She was nervous and fidgeting in place.
"I'll come up and save you if it turns out to be a disaster." Bucky laughed.
"I hate you so much right now Bucky." Cate said to him as she started walking away from her friends. He blew her a kiss as she left and she rolled her eyes at him. Thankfully she had thought of a song on her way there. As she got on the stage, she told the DJ which song she wished to sing and she became anxious singing in front of everyone. She was playing with her fingers waiting on the music to start. The gang was watching her from a few feet further and she was feeling very uneasy suddenly. A song that she related to might have been a wrong idea she thought. But it was too late to switch the song as the lights started to dim around the bar and a spot showed up upon her and the stage. The music started to play. She was so nervous she felt her eyes changing so she closed them and took in a few deep breaths. When she opened them, they landed directly onto Loki who was looking at her with a smirk on his lips. He was expecting her to fail miserably so he could make fun of her for the next week. Cate didn't want to give him that satisfaction. And the truth was that when she locked her eyes on him, she started calming down. She opened her mouth to start singing.
*it's not simple to say
Most days, I don't recognize me
These shoes and this dress
That place and its patrons
Have taken more than I gave 'em
It's not easy to know
I'm not anything like I used to be
Although it's true
I was never attention sweet center
I still remember that girl
She's imperfect but she tries
She is good but she lies
She is hard on herself
She is broken and won't ask for help
She is messy but she's kind
She is lonely most of the time
She is all of this mixed up
And baked in a beautiful pie
She is gone but she used to be mine*The whole gang was watching Cate from the tables.
"Wow. She's actually very good. Did any of you know this?!" Steve asked as he looked around the two tables. Natasha looks back at him.
"I had no clue whatsoever. She never told me."
"Hey Tony, someone who hasn't made your ears bleed!" Clint laughed as he looked to the genius billionaire. Tony sushed him as he was listening to her. Bucky seemed a hell of impressed. He wasn't expecting her to be this good. Thor and Bruce also enjoyed listening to her. Loki was hypnotized by her. He had never heard a woman sing this beautifully before. Neither here or on Asgard. She had the voice of a siren. Dangerously gorgeous. And as she sang, she made him forget everything and everyone around him.
*It's not what I asked for
Sometimes life just slips in through a back door
And carves out a person
And makes you believe it's all true
And now I've got you
And you're not what I asked for
If I'm honest I know I would give it all back
For a chance to start over
And rewrite an ending or two
For the girl that I knew*
