"What next,?" I asked as I walked toward the meeting room

"You have an interview with the New York Times at 1 o'clock". She answered as she swiped on the tablet in her hand, trying to get to the other side. "You also have an appointment with Mr.Jones".

"Thank you, Aaliyah," I thanked her before we walked into the room where the board of directors was waiting

"Good afternoon." I smiled as I took my place at the head of the table. "What do they want now?" Maya sneered in my ear.

"Let's find out"

"How can I assist you, gentlemen, today?" I asked with a dazzling smile

"We called this meeting because we have some concerns about the new contract that was drawn up with Mr. Jones." Arnold piped up

They seem to have something against me in this room, which explains Maya's previous irritation towards them. Arnold being the predominant one who frequently tries at every step to undermine my decisions made him the least liked. I believe this because of the discussion I once overheard where they all seemingly had a meeting about how I had no business in charge. The overt misogyny of Mr. Arnold was not much of a shock to me; he reminds me of his thoughts on where women belonged every day that he can.

Though buying him out of his company share would make sense, he refused to sell it, and if I were to try to fire him based on his conduct, I would not have the support of the others simply because he convinced them that he would make the company better than it was currently. The only thing that makes it impossible for them to pursue more drastic action against me is the fact that Maya and Angel were also on the board and the fact that I still had more than half the company's share.

"Oh, that's perfect" I exclaimed. "I have a meeting with him in two hours"

"That's kinda the problem; we feel as if this project is taking up too much of the company's resources and time ." he rambled

It's stuff like this that comes out from his mouth that leaves me perplexed at how they could think for even one minute that he'd be a better CEO than me.

"I don't necessarily know what you've been calculating in your head, but I can assure you that this company will be able to accommodate the amount of time and resource consumption required for this project." I dictated as I got up and started walking toward the door

"Just because I can't fire you doesn't mean I have to listen to anything that you have to say, and I would advise you to stay in your place... I'm sure you wouldn't want your wife to mysteriously figure out what you do with that 50 thousand dollars on the weekends, would we?" I threatened before I turned, making my exit with Maya and Abigail beside me

"I hate his nasty ass so much." Maya blurted

"You can say that again." I remarked

"I gotta go now, a client's waiting for me," Maya said kissing me on my cheek

"Bye, call me later," I said as I watch her walk towards the elevator

Moments like these are when I realize how truly blessed I am to have friends like Her and Angel.
At least one of them always comes to the board meeting, not necessarily because they have to be there but because they know how the others are and they want to show support

"Ma'am," Abigail said, interrupting my thoughts. " the interviewer is waiting in your office. His name is Shane, he graduated from New York University and started working for the Times 2 years ago" she continued with a simple briefing of his life as we walked to my office
