Continuation from the last chapter
I was sitting in my car waiting for Zyaire to come outside to get me. Seeing him walking down the driveway, I hopped down from my car, picking up my handbag and closing the car door before walking over to him.
"Thanks for coming," he said as we reached each other. " Come this way,"
"It's no problem, " I replied as we walked through the building
"We're remodeling the whole place hence the mess, " he explained the unorganized tools all around. "We're just going to have to go straight to my office. It's the only complete space in here,"
I unknowingly looked around the whole room as we walked towards his office, analyzing the space and the number of things he can accomplish with it.
"It's right here," he said before walking through the doors.
"You can hang your coat right there, " he pointed to the rack in the corner. "And you can sit on the couch right there, "
"Thank you," I replied
"I called you because I needed your advice on the building, knowing your profession is in real estate and construction/ architecture. I have these people currently doing the reconstruction but, I'd like to know your opinion, " he reported handing me a document
As I flipped through the document I realized that
there was no In-depth information on what their plan was"Did you sign a contract?" I asked, looking up at him
"Nah, it was more of a rush thing. I just wanted it done. I didn't ask you at first because I didn't know what you would've said." He explained
"That's useful, it means I can prepare a contract for you to sign with my company by tomorrow and in 6 weeks you'll have an entirely new building. And I would've helped you. " I expressed
"Always ready to help, as usual." he smiled as I handed the folder back to him
"Was that all?" I asked grabbing my handbag
"Yeah, but I was wondering if I could order something to eat if you wanted to stay for a minute. That's if you haven't eaten yet."
" I think I should go" I put on my coat
" I promise it'll only be an hour," he begged
Stopping the action of putting on my coat, I debated with myself if it would be a good idea to stay but looking up at him as I heard the desperation in his voice, I decided against my better judgment to stay.
"Only an hour." I insisted as I pulled off my coat and walked back to the couch, making him smile.
"Thank you, What should I order?"
"Pizza?" I suggested
"Sure" he answered
We sat there in awkward silence for 20 minutes, occasionally stealing glances at each other until the pizza arrived and he got up to get it.
"How are you?" he broke the silence
"Good. How are you?. How was your tour?. I saw it in the shade room". I rambled
"I'm good. The tour was fun" he smirked. " How's Ava?"
"She's good" I smiled
We sat there and talked for some while, but it didn't come as easy as we thought it would, because as we tried to converse with each other, we realized that the special connection we once had wasn't there anymore and that only brought awkwardness.
