3rd person POV

A few months past by. Y/N has started school. She's been trying to find her way. She's been receiving help from the school with her transition.

She tried to find a near by job but felt scared to go out at times. She still kept to herself but she enjoyed being away from home.

She didn't tell anyone she was leaving except for her parents. Jean still texted to check in every now and then. She never responded but he always tried.

She was taking 4 classes this semester and they weren't very time consuming.

She didn't have a roommate which she was happy about. Her academic advisor contact her every 2 weeks to check in and see how classes were going and how her personal life was going.

They were aware of Y/N not opening up. Her professors knew that, but they just assumed it was because of her age. That since she started a little early she wasn't ready to open up.

Almost everyone in her classes were aware she started a year early. One guy in particular was interested in that fact.

He himself was also a freshman in college and had Psychology class with her.

He wasn't romantically interested in her, more just intrigued as to why she would want to start college early, or how she decided on coming here. Everything of that nature.

The guy tried to talk to Y/N a few times but she wouldn't open up. Even if he was only one year older than her, she didn't want to get close to anyone or form any type of relationships with any guys.

Being around Eren had really messed her up. She didn't trust people anymore. She always saw them as wanting to get close to her to hurt her or to poke fun of her.

So as a defense mechanism, she closed herself off from anyone and everyone. Even if it meant she wouldn't have any friends and would be considered a loner.

This never stopped the guy from trying to talk to her. He saw how closed off she was and how sluggish she walked.

He wanted to know more.

One day in the library, in the middle of the semester, Y/N was working on some math homework. Statistics to be exact. She decided on that class she had taken that class not too long ago.

She was sitting at a table and someone approached her.

"Is this seat open?" A male voice said.

"It's all yours." She said, sounding a little cold.

"What are you working on?" He asked.

"Statistics." She had said, not really wanting to have a conversation at the moment.

"Oh I took a statistics class in high school. It was pretty easy." He said and Y/N said nothing. Just continued working.

"So what are you majoring in?" He asked her.

"Don't know yet." Was all she said, beginning to get a tad bit annoyed with the guy that started to make conversation.

"You don't speak much do you." He said.

"I don't even know you." She said, beginning to get sassy with him.

"Ah yes, sorry, we have the same Psychology class, I'm Erwin. I find you pretty interesting. What made you want to start college early?" He asked her and she felt herself tense.

"I don't want to share that information. I have to get going." She said as she started to pack up her stuff.  She found it weird that he was just opened up that way.

She rushed out of the library. She started to feel scared. She doesn't want to get close with anyone. She wants to stay away from people.

Why couldn't people see that?

People generally stayed away from her, but she sometimes felt unsettled. As if people were looking at her.

Y/N got to her dorm room and felt tired. Drained to be exact. She doesn't like interacting with people anymore.

She gets lonely sometimes but she doesn't let it get to herself. She doesn't call her parents very often.

You would think that her being so far away, she would call her parents at least every other day or every 3 days. Not her, sometimes she can go a week without calling them and checking in to make sure they know she is ok.

She preferred to just be alone playing soft music in her room when she had the chance.

The only places she really went was to class, the library, her dorm, and occasionally the supermarket close to campus.

She had a small mini fridge in her room so she kept some things in there, mainly water and some fruit. She also had a small basket of snacks she would occasionally have on her way to class.

Y/N would find herself crying out of no where sometimes when she was in her room. She didn't know why.

Maybe because she was lonely.

Maybe because she missed home.

Maybe because she missed Eren.

As dumb as that was, she really did like him. She wanted nothing to do with him now, but she missed the idea of him.

She was so happy with him, but the thought always came in her head that maybe it was all just one sided.

She always pushed the idea away that she missed Eren.

One night she thought about it and she cried herself to sleep and didn't eat that whole day. And she only had a few sips of water that day too.

So she tried avoiding thinking of Eren as much as possible.

All though she did think of her other friends every now and then.

This day particularly she was missing her friends more than other days.

She was feeling bad about just upping and leaving. No explanation of her plans or anything like that. Especially with Jean still trying to check in on me. And Historia stopped trying. The last message Historia sent.

Historia- Hey, you might be annoyed receiving texts from me now. So just know, I want the best for you, and you can always message me if you ever need anything Y/N. Take care. :) <3

It was about 1pm. Y/N decided that she would send a simple text to Jean. She knew that he would be in school. So if he wanted to, he could let other people know I sent him something to let him know I am ok.

Y/N- I'm alive.

Y/N didn't think much when she sent this text.

Little did she know, just those two words made Jean really happy. Knowing you were still around made him feel so much better. Lucky for him, Historia was in his class so he was able to tell her about it right away.

She was excited about it too.

He responded to that with a picture of the two of them together.

Y/N received it, smiled, and then cried about it for a little while. Missing both of the so much at the moment.

She didn't respond to the picture.

She was just happy that those two still cared for her.

Even if she did up and leave.

She was so thankful for them.

That night she called her father and told him about it.

Told him about texting Jean, receiving the picture, and about the Erwin guy from the library who approached her.

Her dad encouraged her to try and be friends with him. To try and not see everyone as an enemy.

So that was what Y/N was going to work on.

Baby steps though.

She had to start with baby steps.
