Begin Again in a New Pack

Chapter 9

Jacob's POV
"Can I please go see her? This is killing me."

"You need rest. Maybe in a few days."

"Please."

"Fine. But just this once until you're discharged."

She grabbed a wheelchair and rolled it over to me. She brought me upstairs and all these tubes coming out of Gabrielle killed me especially the one coming out of her mouth.

                           Rose's POV
I've never seen someone care so much for her. This boy is the one we hoped would be her mate. He's willing to make his pain worse just to be next to her. All night he begged her to wake up. He eventually fell asleep with his head being held up by his hand and the other holding her hand. Obviously I had to take a picture to text Celeste. I felt bad waking him up but he needs to go back to his room.

"Hey Jacob? We need to leave before we get yelled at. ."

"Okay thank you." he said as he yawned.

"Are you their nurse?" A voice came from behind me.

"Oh no I'm her mother and his nurse. Why?"

They showed me their badges.

"Oh you're cops."

"Are they awake? We need to question them."

"She's still sleeping and he just fell asleep. Please check back later with her nurse."

"Well who is her nurse?"

"I am. I'm nurse Peyton. I can have her doctor give you a briefing on the situation if you would kindly follow me."

                       Back to Jacob's POV
The first of my nightmares began once I fell asleep. I woke up scared. I didn't notice how hard my grip was on Rose's arm until I looked.

"Oh no I'm sorry."

"So she's getting better."

"How do you know Gray?"

"I talked to Diana. She said she should wake up soon. So go back to sleep."

"I don't want to go to bed."

"You'll be fine."

Rose was right my pain is worse than before but that's okay. She had to replace my IV because I must have pulled it out during the night. All I could do was think about everything. I turned the tv off and closed my eyes. I'm scared to sleep. I don't want these nightmares. A while after I fell asleep I shot up into  sitting position and sweating due to a nightmare.

Then Rose came in.

"Are you okay?"

"No. Nightmare..."

"Is that why you don't want to sleep?"

"Yes well and I want to be awake when she wakes up. Hopefully she's not stuck in a nightmare.."

"I'm sure she's fine. I'm not going to force you to sleep if you're scared to. Just relax and watch tv and go on your phone. I'll get you some pain medication."

This is the worse pain I've ever been in. I mean yeah I've had a broken leg and ankle before but this feels worse somehow. She left the wheelchair next to me so I lowered myself onto it and wanted to go back upstairs.
