Begin Again in a New Pack

Chapter 13

                            Gabrielle's POV  
*Day two of trial*
* possible small trigger warning*

The next day was slightly better since I didn't have to testify. Today it was Jacob's turn to testify. He basically said everything I did but his point of view.
There was stuff I didn't know which shocked me.

"Is there anything else that happened that we don't know about?"

"When she would be asleep they'd attack me with a knife and slashed my face and right by the vein on my wrist."

"Is that how you got that scar on your eye?"

"Yes."

I looked in absolute horror. I covered my mouth with my hands. Tears filled my eyes. I look over at his family to see they had the exact same reaction I did.

So that's where the scar on his eye came from. Why didn't he want to tell me?

He looks down at his feet and looks like he's seconds away from crying.

"He's never been like this before. We've never seen him this scared."

"I know. I don't like it. He's scaring me."

He just stared at me until the next question. His response caught everyone off guard. The next question involved him showing his scars on his body.

The prosecutor cleared her throat.

"How did you meet Mr.Graves?"

"We were best friends up until high school."

"And why did that change?"

"I started training to become alpha and he didn't like being my beta. He became jealous I guess."

"YOU ASSHOLE!" 

"MR.GRAVES! One more outburst and you will be in contempt! And there will be no more cursing in my courtroom!"

I think she likes using that word.

"Did he say anything to you when you woke up?"

"Yes."

"Could you tell us?"

"He said I was collateral damage. He wanted to take my girlfriend  or one of my sisters since they're my weaknesses. And I just got in the way."

"No further questions your honor."

"Would the defense like to cross examine?"

"Actually we would. I'd like to add on to that last question."

"How did you respond to that?"

"Not well."

"What did you say to my client?"

Uh oh

"Uh erm um. I said I'd kill him and if he touched anyone from my family and that I'd have his head on a spike."

"Would you say you're a violent person?"

"No! Not at all!"

"But you said you just threatened Mr.Graves."

"Objection your honor. Is there a question here?" Mrs.Lion said.

"Sustained. Mr. Quinn,if there's no question here move on."

"Yes your honor. Jacob did you have any contact with my client leading up to these events?"

"No. At that point I hadn't talked to him since we were freshman."
