Jacob's POV
We got back to the house and she went to shower. I figured I'd help put dinner on the table. I set Cody in his high chair. We all sat down and started eating when the questions started.
"So what's the high school like here? Terence has been talking about going back to school."
"It's full of assholes." We all said.
"That bad huh?" Terence commented.
"Yeah. Oh by the way mom is the party still tomorrow?"
"Yes."
I look at Gabrielle who is practically falling asleep at the table.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?"
"I just got tired and dizzy all of sudden. I think I'm going to go upstairs to lay down. Goodnight everyone."
"Do you want help getting up the stairs?"
"No I should be okay. Thank you anyway."
"Okay. I'll be up in a couple."
"You're okay with feeding Cody?"
"I'm fine go lay down."
My eyes stayed glued to her until she walked up the stairs. We all cleaned up dinner and brought out dessert. Once we sat down my phone rang.
She's literally upstairs why is she calling me?
"Hello?"
"Am I bothering you?"
"No. What made you think that?"
"I'm calling while you're all at the table."
"Do you need anything?"
"No but there's people walking up to the door."
"What do they look like?"
"It's only one girl. Wait. She's giving herself a pep talk."
"What girl?"
"She looks like she's the same age as your sisters"
I got up and walked over to the door then opened it. My arms crossed and my eyebrow raised. I just stared at this now stranger.
"Can I see her?"
"Why should I let you?"
"Fair point. Uh I don't know."
Carolyn walked over with a disgusted look.
"Oh no. Not you again. I told you to leave me alone."
"Just hear me out. Please."
"Thought we were done with this game. You lost."
"It's not a game! I really am sorry!"
"Leave before I pick you up and put you in the car myself."
"We're over. You screwed everything up. There's no coming back from this."
"I repeat. Leave before I put you in the car myself."
"Look I'm sorry I really am! I can change! Promise!"
"Quit while you're behind Veronica. Just stop. I've moved on. So should you."
Carolyn shut the door in her face and went back to the table to finishing eating while I locked the door.
Gabrielle's POV
Even though I was exhausted I went back downstairs to see what happened. I swear I'm going to fall over. Jacob ran over to check on me.
