Chapter Five

I opened one eye at a time. I stared at the ceiling. It was now 2:30 pm. The school was done in

10 minutes. Today was one of the few days I still have that I can't get out of bed.

I rolled back over to sleep; I slept all day until I heard my phone buzzing.

Incoming call: Kasey

I denied it, knowing she would leave a message.

"It's just me, don't forget group at 3pm. See you tonight."

Shit. Group. I guess I am going to have to get up now.

I slowly crawled out of bed, got a pair of jeans' on, and a t-shirt. I grabbed my sweater and slipped on my converses.

I began walking to school. I live only a 10-minute walk away.

I walked into the gymnasium, where the group sessions are taking place. I was uncomfortable. I took a quick look around the room to see if I noticed anyone. Emily Fairs, Sarah Conner, Jacob Cairns. Wait, JACOB! My eyes bulged out of my head.

Why was Jacob at a grief group?

Shit.

He caught me looking.
