It had been nearly a month since Luke was first bitten by a tiny spider in some random cupboard in his uni. He had finally managed to figure out some kind of an explanation for what was happening to him - he had already concluded that it had all stemmed from the bite he had gotten. After a bit of research (google) Luke had realised it was a spider bite and came to the conclusion that the spider must've been infected with something.
Luke had taken a trip back to the hallway where he got lost and had established that the cupboard he found himself in backed onto a science laboratory. He also noticed a large quantity of radiation being stored in the cupboard.
Putting these facts together Luke could only assume that the spider he was bitten by had somehow become radioactive, despite the thick, lead casing the radioactive substances were stored in.
By attributing his new found talents to be the result of the radioactive spider bite Luke easily determined that he would not tell his friends what was happening to him. He could see himself very clearly being admitted to an adolescent mental health unit.
Luke had finally established exactly what his talents were and had started to refer to them as his 'powers' (he thought it sounded cool and made him seem like a superhero). He knew for a fact that he had at least five powers - super strength that enabled him to lift ten tons; super sensitive senses, which allowed him to see and hear things from a fair distance, as well as a stronger sense of smell and taste.
One of the most obvious powers that he had been aware of from the start was his speed meaning he could travel at just over thirty miles per hour at full pelt. Luke's favourite power was his web shooting, which, at night was his preferred method of travel.
More recently Luke had noticed a new, fifth power. Super fast reflexes. He wasn't sure whether he had had this power from the start and was only just noticing it now or whether it had taken longer to develop. It had definitely come in useful in the past couple of weeks.
Luke was severely uncoordinated and was forever tripping up or knocking things over, therefore to be able to quickly recover from what would have been a very embarrassing fall, or to quickly grab a glass that he had knocked off a worktop were lifesaving abilities.
Over the past few weeks Luke had managed to get his powers under control and had started to attend lectures regularly after the couple of days he had off after being bitten. He was still constantly late. Luke had considered using his powers to get him to lectures quicker, but it wasn't worth the risk. It was just a little likely that someone flying through the streets using webs would get noticed.
To be fair he wasn't as late as what he used to be, turning up at the latest ten minutes into the lecture. He also was keeping up with the work being set and was getting good grades. This at least got his lecturer off his back.
However it also meant he had less of a need to talk to Tamsyn yet they still seemed to talk just as much, if not more. Tamsyn had always been nice to Luke, in fact Luke knew that she was nice to everyone, that's just who she was, but recently she had been acting weird around him.
To start with Luke thought that she had decided that she didn't like him. She almost seemed pissed off at him, which Luke wouldn't have been surprised at as he was always doing things to piss people off - not on purpose though. However their increase in conversations gave Luke mixed signals. If she was pissed at him, why would she talk to him so much?
