Animal - Neon Trees

 ----------------------------------------

When Luke woke the next morning at seven he felt great. He may not have had that much sleep but he still felt refreshed and quite smug. He knew that he had done a good job the night before. No-one had gotten hurt and a major robbery had been prevented, it was definitely something he could be proud of. His slight breakdown forgotten.

He took his time in the shower, he had been too tired the night before to wash and so didn't feel very clean. By eight o'clock Luke was wide awake, dressed, his room was spotlessly tidy and he had eaten his breakfast. He slowly gathered his stuff for his lecture, carefully organising it and putting it into his rucksack. Luke never normally had time to do any of this.

It was eight forty five when Luke exited his building, he had half an hour to walk to his lecture. He smirked to himself as he saw Tamsyn hurrying down the stairwell, her bag had been hastily slung over her shoulder and she clutched a thermos in one hand. It was amusing to watch - she was always on time and had everything under control, yet that morning it was as if their roles had been reversed.

Luke laughed slightly as Tamsyn nearly rushed past without a greeting, not realising it was him.
"Hey!" Luke called out cheerfully as she brushed past, the look of shock on her face caused Luke to laugh even harder.

Tamsyn and Luke made small talk as they made their way to their lecture together, neither of them mentioning their encounter from the night before. They passed their local tube station, not bothering to go in as they had plenty of time - Tamsyn was only rushing because she liked to be early.  Luke did however pick up the free newspaper that was being given out at the entrance to the station and nearly stopped in his tracks as he read the headline on the front page.

'Mysterious "Spider-Man" comes to the rescue as three armed men rob Tiffany &Co.'

Luke quickly flicked through the article and was relieved to find no mention of his name, and the description of 'Spider-Man' was quite vague.

After the initial thought of 'Spider-Man?? ... That's quite catchy actually!' Luke started to go in panic mode. This wasn't supposed to happen. What if they found out it was him? Luke tucked the newspaper into his bag, but still was distracted as he continued the walk to his lecture in silence with Tamsyn by his side.

"Are you okay? You've gone quiet..." Tamsyn asked as they took their usual seats at the back of the theatre.

"I'm fine" Luke replied as he pulled the newspaper out of his rucksack, "But do you know anything about this?" He spread the paper across the bench in front of them so the headline was clearly visible.

"Oh yeah! I was reading about this this morning!" Luke felt deflated, how much did she know? Did the whole country know?

"It's, erm, a bit of a crazy story right?" Luke nervously asked.

"Yeah, so crazy, I mean like an armed robbery is crazy enough by itself but some crazy spider guy?? Is that even possible?"

"What do you think of this 'Spider-Man' dude then, do you recon they'll find him?"

"I mean probably, they haven't got a good description of him so it'll be difficult. But then the police are all keeping a lookout for him, and it was on the national news. Also how many people do you know that can shoot spider webs from their wrists?" Tamsyn laughed. Luke gave an awkward chuckle.

"You're saying you can't do that?" Luke tried to joke. Tamsyn was completely oblivious and seemed to find Luke's sarcasm funny. He smiled as she laughed, relieved that she didn't suspect anything.
