Rabbit Hole - Jamie T

---------------------------------------------

By the time six weeks had passed since Luke was bitten, he had completely mastered the use of his powers. He knew exactly what he was capable of and had tested them thoroughly. He no longer spent the majority of his evenings running around central London parks, instead he went for a normal half hour jog.

This stopped his friends from being suspicious, yet still kept him fit. It was later in the middle of the night, usually around eleven until two that Luke had his fun. He would climb out of his bedroom window onto the balcony outside, which wasn't really supposed to be used for health and safety reasons, and sneakily take off into the night, making as little noise as possible.

His new routine was working well for him, no one ever saw him leave or enter the building, and the CCTV cameras in the area were luckily just out of reach of his window. Luke quite liked the thrill of sneaking out every night, he felt like he was fifteen years old again, climbing out of his bedroom window to meet up with his mates or his girlfriend at the time.

Although London wasn't exactly dead in those few hours in the middle of the night, there was always people and cars about no matter what time it was, Luke took advantage of the quieter city. Stereo-typically he would use this time and his powers to visit some tourist sites. It was a lot more interesting when you were looking at Buckingham Palace from the top of the Queen Victoria Memorial.

He also liked to look into the Tower of London from the top of nearby apartment buildings, but he soon got out of that habit once he realised he could probably get shot if he was to get caught. That was a risk he wasn't willing to take - he hadn't tested his super sharp reflexes against a bullet, and certainly wasn't planning on it.

Despite saying that he didn't want to test his abilities against a bullet, it was bound to happen eventually. However Luke wasn't expecting it to be so soon considering how strict the gun legislation is in the UK.

It was as Luke was running along the rooftops of the shops on Oxford Street that he heard a commotion, he could hear at least three separate police sirens all heading south. Acting on instinct he quickly started to head in the same direction, using the sirens to guide him.

Luke ran along the rooftops, keeping low so as not to be seen until he came across the source of the noise. He was crouched on the roof of a shop opposite a Tiffany & Co. shop that was obviously being robbed.

He could see that the front window had been smashed in and using his super vision he was able to tell that there were three men dressed from head to toe in black, similar to what Luke was wearing, however Luke did not have a black balaclava on nor a gun.

One of the men was inside the store with a rucksack, filling it up with jewellery worth thousands of pounds. The other two men both had guns, which were being aimed at the eight police officers outside the shop, who were typically unarmed.

Luke took a minute to gauge the situation, unsure of how he would be able to help, especially without getting caught by the police. He was getting frustrated, he knew he needed to do something before someone got hurt, there was no way that the specialist firearms command would make it in time to stop these men, they were nearly done emptying the store.

It took two minutes for Luke to come up with a strategy (which consisted mostly of him winging it). He sprung into action, feeling like a proper superhero, despite the abnormally fast thudding of his heart.
