Same Suit, Different Tie - The Maine

---------------------------------------------

Luke had decided that he really needed to work on his and Tamsyn's friendship. This meant that over the next couple of weeks he made a real effort to engage in conversation with her.

This usually resulted in awkward silences, making them both extremely uncomfortable. Although towards the end of the second week it had become noticeably less awkward.

The most obvious thing for Luke was to talk about music. He already had an idea of Tamsyn's music taste from previous conversations and her numerous band tees that she wore to lectures.

This had worked for the first few times he tried to talk to her and it was looking promising.

He was particularly happy when Tamsyn was animatedly discussing All Time Low's new album with him.

"I mean like you could tell from 'Something's Gotta Give' and 'Kids In The Dark' it was going to be a good album" She said, her eyes lighting up as they discussed one of her many favourite bands.

"Definitely," Luke replied, "I really like 'Old Scars/Future Hearts' and 'How The Story Ends'"

"Seriously?! Tamsyn exclaimed, "they're my favourites! And I love Bail Me Out."

This conversation had taken place as they were waiting outside their lecture hall, and continued as they took their seats. They only stopped their in depth analysis of each track form 'Future Hearts' when their lecturer cleared his throat and called out for silence.

They did this each morning before their lectures; they would find an album that they both loved and would discuss it until their lecture started. They had discussed the likes of Fall Out Boy, Foo Fighters, All Time Low, and on one bizarre occasion, One Direction.

These conversations Luke loved, particularly as they both had a scarily similar music taste even down to having the same favourite songs on each of their favourite albums.

However when they weren't talking about music, Luke had no idea what to say. He had tried talking about their degree with her as it was another thing they had in common, but to be honest it was quite a boring subject to talk about outside of lectures.

Tamsyn was also trying to make the effort to talk to Luke, especially after she enjoyed their conversations about music. However she managed to bring up the one topic he didn't want to discuss whilst walking home; Michael.

"So, you're friends with Michael, right?" She started.

"Yeah I am," Luke smiled tightly, "You two have been texting, right?"

"Yeah, he's cool." Tamsyn replied with a genuine smile.

"But you're just friends." Luke stated.

"Yep." Tamsyn confirmed, Luke felt relieved.

"So how come you text Michael because he's 'cool' but you won't text me?" Luke asked teasingly.

"I don't know, maybe it's because I don't have your number? And like I said, Michael's cool." She responded sarcastically.

"Are you trying to imply that I'm not cool?" Luke asked, mocking offence.

"I never said that!" Tamsyn grinned at him.

"So are you gonna give me your number?" Luke asked, still smiling from their joking. To his surprise Tamsyn looked away from him, down at the floor. Just seconds ago they were joking around and now she had shut herself away. "You don't have to give it to me if you don't want..." Luke chuckled nervously.
