Lost Boy - 5SOS

----------------------------------------

Luke walked out of his last exam and squinted into the bright sunlight. He felt relieved that his first year of university was over. All the studying he had been doing had exhausted him. He was feeling confident about his exams and he had worked solidly, he was quite proud of himself considering the circumstances.

It felt like he hadn't seen anyone properly over the past few weeks as everyone had retreated to their rooms to revise. He would occasionally see one of his flat mates if they happened to venture out at the same time for food.

He was last out of his flat to finish and so they had planned a night out the next day after they had all caught up on their sleep.

Luke shook his hand out as he stood in the sun outside to try and stop his hand from cramping up. The exam had been three hours long and he had been writing non stop during that time.

He wasn't sure why he was hanging around the exam hall but as his eyes adjusted to the light he saw Tamsyn not far from him, checking her phone.

Feeling his gaze on her, Tamsyn looked up and took in her surroundings, finally noticing Luke who was watching her.

She smiled at him and finished whatever she was doing on her phone before putting it in her pocket and slowly making her way through the crowd of students towards Luke.

Honestly, he was slightly intimidated by her. She may be a shy, quiet girl, but she was also fiercely independent and wouldn't take shit from anyone. Luke was well aware that she had the power to crush him just by refusing to have anything to do with him or worse-case, exposing him to the world.

Luckily she quite happily approached him and even though the last time they had spoken was at Marie's funeral there seemed to be an unspoken understanding that they were friends again.

"How do you think it went?" Tamsyn asked.

"Pretty good, actually, thanks. What about you?" Luke replied.

"Yeah I thought it was quite a nice paper really.

Luke nodded as a response, hating that they were back to making small talk after all the progress they had made over the past year. Although he accepted that it was partly his own fault and was just glad she was actually talking to him.

"What question did you choose for section A?" He asked, trying to keep the conversation going.

"Two, you?"

"Yeah, I chose that too. We went over a similar question in one of our revision sessions so I was glad that came up." Luke smiled at the memories of their study sessions.

Tamsyn laughed. "So those came in handy in the end."

"Definitely." Luke replied, also laughing. "I don't think I'd have passed otherwise."

"You're exaggerating, you're way too clever to fail." Tamsyn replied rolling her eyes.

"Whatever." Luke grinned. "I've, er, been trying to track down the guys who, er, you know, were responsible for those murders." He said nervously.

Tamsyn stiffened, shifting her gaze to the floor, he had obviously made her uncomfortable.

"Sorry, ignore me, I shouldn't have said anything." Luke apologised.

"It's okay." She replied. "I don't really want to talk about it, but I don't think you should be out looking for them. Let the police deal with it now, it's too dangerous."
