some days, they taste like lemonade,
some days can feel like razor blades
Some Days - The Maine
------------------
Two weeks later and Luke was still a mess. He had been having trouble sleeping due to nightmares.
It wasn't helping that exams were coming up. The exhaustion of sleepless nights combined with the fact that we was rarely turning up for lectures regularly anymore meant that Luke's stress levels were through the roof.
Tamsyn, as expected, had reacted badly to Luke revealing himself and typically he had been beating himself up about it, contributing to his fatigue.
After he had removed his mask neither of them spoke or moved for at least two minutes, Luke was sure he had even stopped breathing. The atmosphere was the tensest Luke had ever encountered.
It was all too much for Tamsyn to take in at this point, her best friend had been murdered, and then she had found out that the guy she liked, had kissed was Luke. Not only that, but Luke had been there when she died and hadn't been able to top these guys. She didn't know what to feel anymore apart from betrayal and grief.
"Please say something." Luke had begged, his voice was cracked and broken from exhaustion and it came out only a little louder than a whisper.
Tamsyn had just shook her head at him. Slowly, one by one, tears started to fall down her cheeks until they gained speed and she was full on sobbing.
Luke reached out to her, trying to be comforting, but she had just pushed his hand away. He didn't blame her, but it still hurt. Tamsyn sunk to the floor, and leaned her head against the side of her bed as she cried. Luke had lowered himself down too and had sat opposite her.
"I feel so stupid." Tamsyn muttered once she had gathered herself together.
"No, don't say that, you're anything but stupid, love." Luke gently reassured her.
"But I should have known." Tamsyn had protested. "I-uh, it's just that I would talk to you about you. The whole time you let me believe you were two separate people."
Luke hadn't interrupted and let Tamsyn continue on with her rant. All he could concentrate on was the fact that she was actually talking to him. He had expected her to kick him out like she had tried to do previous to his reveal.
"How do you expect me to trust you Luke? How could you let this go on this long? We're supposed to be friend, and er, well, I don't know... But surely if you cared about me you would have told me earlier?"
Luke had hung his head in shame. He knew that keeping his identity secret from her for so long would have consequences, and frankly he had no excuses.
"Tell me how I can fix this. At the moment all I'm doing is saying how sorry I am, I want to help, I do care about you. A lot."
