I wake up at God knows what hour with Demi laying fully on top of me. I couldn't move because she was clinging to me with her arms like it her life depended on it. I'm not complaining, I like it actually. This is one of those moments when dating Demi is one of my greatest desires. Seeing will always be my number one, but she's constantly my number two now.
"Good morning, Natalie." Demi says into my chest with a smile.
"Good morning, Demetria." I tease back, copying her voice.
I didn't expect her reaction of playfully hitting me in the arm and crawling so close to my face that our noses and foreheads are touching.
"You know I hate it when people call me that."
This was the perfect moment. It's decided I'm gonna do it. I'm going to -.
"Hey, Nat its- oh hello Demi." Aiden says.
"Is she up yet!" Jenny calls from the other room.
"Oh she's up alright." Aiden calls back. "The game is on tonight."
All of us are really into watching sports. Especially football. Aiden watches it because everyone else does and Katia has no clue what's happening, but it's a bonding thing. Dylan and I explain the game to them because we understand.
Another thing about watching sports. There is no need to have the narrator on. The announcers tell every detail, every move of every player. I know what down it is, I know the score, I even know the time on the clock.
Since all of us come from Massachusetts, were patriots fans.
"What time is it?" I ask.
"10:45" Aiden says
Demi pushes closer to me and her breath warms my bare shoulder, unable to be covered by the tank top I wear.
"Would you care to join us?" I ask her.
"Of course I would! Who's playing?"
"Patriots verses Cowboys." I say smiling. Demi has mentioned her Texas roots, so I know we'll be frienemies tonight.
"Y'all are going down tonight." Demi sasses, not even bothering to get off me when sitting up.
Demi had to leave to go to the studio today, to make up for a day she took off a while ago. Dylan and Nate had to work and Monica and Katia had to go kitchen supply shopping since they are the newest to the area and just got the money for non-plastic cups. Jenny and Aiden took me shopping for snacks, which involved me getting shamed on for hating Doritos.
When we got back, it was 6 o'clock. The game was on in a 2 and a half hours. Everyone but Dylan and Demi were here. Katia and Monica are the best cooks in our friend group, so they make cookies and other goods. Aiden helped me into his and Jenny's apartment. 'You could lose your balance and break you neck' they say. Well, 'so could you.' I say.
A little while after I get my jersey on, the door open and shuts quietly before the sound of sneakers squeak against the hardwood floor.
"Hello?" A woman calls. She walks down the hallway to the kitchen and Katia and Monica both greet her with welcoming voices before she stops in the doorway.
"You going to say hi to me?" She asks.
"Hey, Demi."I greet. "How was your day?"
"Awful. Sometimes I just want to go to bed and sleep for eternity. You?" I feel the couch sink and soft lips touch my temple briefly before the crunch of a chip sounds next to me. Thankfully, she didn't pick Doritos or I'd gag at the smell.
"Boring. Went to the grocery store, probably got stared at, but I could care less."
The announcer on the tv introduces a unfamiliar person to sing the national anthem. Toward the end everyone is sitting down when the door opens and heavy work boots rush down the hall. The man sits and sighs loudly.
"Good, I didn't miss anything. Hey guys! Nat I got the Mountain Dew you asked for. Cowboy fan Demi?" Dylan asked cheery.
"And proud of it." She says
"Until the pats kick their ass!" Monica says, cheers of agreement sounding around the room.
"We could have done worse." Nate sighs as the two minute warning in the fourth quarter sounds. We're down by 7. Demi's giddy because she gets to run it in our faces. Even though she didn't contribute to their win whatsoever. Dems was leaning on the armrest next to me, so she was sitting sideways on my lap. I've gotten used to her being on top of me while the other girls tease us. Demi and I always knock them down, but i know both of us are blushing. Everyone else was sitting around the room, I don't really know, or care, where.
"Still lost." Demi replies to Nate.
"And here's the snap Romo scans the field.." The announcer says.
"Well shit!" Katia says, attempting to understand.
"Romo throws short left and...Veneer intercepts it!" The announcer continues.
Everyone cheers him to go on and the living room volume rises in excitement. Veneer ends up getting the touchdown and Brady throws and succeeds for the extra point to win the game 22-21.
"Fuck!" Demi yells loudly.
" in your face!" I shout in her ear.
"Hey!"
Demi sat up and straddled me before tickling my sides vigorously until I swore and had to push her off to recover. Everyone was laughing hysterically, Demi was on the floor with a bowl of Fritos on her chest that she knocked off the coffee table.
"I better go to bed.." Dylan says standing, dramatically lifting the couch level.
"Us too." Katia says, referring to her and Monica.
"I need to go to bed. Stephen wants me in early tomorrow." Nate sighs.
I was personally exhausted, so I got up and Aiden jumped up from the floor next to me. However, Demi is just as quick to her feet.
"I'll take her down." She says.
"I can go by myself!" I raise my voice slightly to stop them from discussing who would take me to my room.
"No you can't!" They both yell back at me.
It was decided that Demi would be the one to help since she couldn't stay the night and had to go home anyway.
"This wasn't-shit." I say, replacing my sentence because I almost fell.
"Wasn't necessary my ass!" She laughs placing her arm around my waist for my support.
We got to my room and she opened my dresser to give me clothes to sleep in.
"I better go." She states.
"You could stay the night."
"No, I have to work."
"Please?" I ask wrapping my arms around her.
"Fine. But no complaining when I leave in the morning."
"Ok." I say. We get into bed and this time I'm the one to cling on. I may have said I was ok with letting her leave tomorrow but, even if it was for work, I wasn't.
I didn't want her to go, not anytime soon.
