I wake up to my alarm clock buzzing. I sigh and roll over, expecting to see Jake asleep next to me but I remember he went to Florida.
I force myself to stand up and get changed into a black and white striped sweater with a white tank top underneath. I put on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and my black and white vans.
I put concealer, liquid eyeliner, and pencil eye liner. I grab my phone and my book bag as I walk out of my room. I look at Jakes hat that's sitting on the couch. I smile at the thought of him and shake my head, walking to the kitchen. I grab a bottle of water and hop up on the counter.
I drink the water bottle then jump off the counter. I grab my things and walk out. I search for my headphones as I walk but I can't find them. I look at the messages and delete them all, being proud of myself for being able to do that.
My phone rings and Jakes name comes across the screen. I smile and answer it.
"Hey," Jake says and I fix my book bag strap.
"I figured you would be asleep," I say back.
"It's like twenty two hours away, everyone's asleep, I'm driving now. Me and my dad are taking turns." he says back and I nod.
"Damn."
"Yeah, another thing, someone named Lindsey is coming back with us. She's related to them somehow. I don't know, but she lived with their grandfather." he says and I nod. The wind picks up and I wish he was here.
"How old is she?" I ask to try not to focus on the cold.
"She's like ten." he says and I nod even though he can't see me.
"Enjoying that drive?" I ask and he laughs a little.
"Not at all, I've been driving since like this morning." he says back and I smile.
"I'm sorry, don't you think you should stop?" I ask and I can hear Anthony lightly snoring in the background.
"Yeah, my dad takes 'his shift' in about an hour." he says and yawns a little. "I have a shit ton of coffee in me right now so I think I'm good." he says and I turn the corner.
"That's good. I'm not sure you should be talking to me while you're driving babe. Call me when you get there?" I ask.
"Of corse."
"Okay," as I'm about to hang up I hear him.
"Wait Jamie?" he asks and I put it back to my ear.
"Yeah?" I ask.
"I love you." he says and I smile.
"I love you too." I say back and he hangs up. I shove my phone back in my pocket and keep walking.
Once I get to school, I almost instantly realize I didn't take my medication. I haven't been lately because I didn't need it when Jake was here with me.
I walk with my head down and try to ignore the whispers. I lean against the wall and wait. I check my Instagram where it's basically no hate, it's sort of the place I go when I need something to cheer me up.
I hear the bell ring and I put my phone back into my pocket. I start to walk and some grabs my shoulder, pulling me back. I quickly turn around as people walk past me. I look at 'Brady group' the jocks basically. I don't see Brady but I know this isn't going to go well.
"Where's your boyfriend?" the guy in the front asks. I have no idea what his name is but I look up at him.
"With family.." I say back and he grins.
"So there is no one here with you?" he asks and starts to walk toward me, I don't answer and walk backwards.
"You're not going to say anything?" he asks and pushes my shoulders, slamming me into the wall. The book bag makes it so it doesn't hurt as bad. I grunt a bit in pain and he still has the grin on his face, which scares me."Get to class!" I hear the principal yells as he walks past us. I let out a sigh of relief and they back up some. Each of them walk by me and purposely knock into me as I do.
"Freak," one of them mutters and the erupt with laughter.
