I slowly put on a pair of jeans with a grey sweatshirt that has pink hood strings and a pink hood. Emily starts to cry and I sigh.

"Baby you have to wait," I say and walk out, putting on my shoes as she counties to cry. I sit on the corner of the bed and pick her up. She stops crying and I look at her. I lightly touch her nose and she makes a 'oohing' sound. I smile and put on one of her jackets on her. "Were going to see Daddy," I say quietly as I zip up her jacket.

I slowly stand up and carry her. I don't know why, I just don't like the idea of strollers. I just think they look stupid. Plus she's only about five pounds so she's not heavy at all. I grab my phone off the table along with a bag that has diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, and all that other good stuff. I open the door and she looks up at me.

I eventually arrive at the school and I wait out front for him to come out. I hear the bell and people come flooding out. People walk by me and stare but I ignore it. I wait for him until I finally see him walkout of the front doors.

Jake smiles at me and I smile back. He waves to the group that he was walking with and walk over to me. He holds the sides of my shoulders and kisses me. He slowly lets go and pulls away.

"Hey," he says and looks down at Emily. He lightly touches her head and smiles.

"Hey," I say back.

"How is my girl? I mean girl's'," he says back and I smile.

"We're both good. But Emily has this new thing where she cries until you pick her up." I say back and look at her.

"Hey," an unfamiliar voice says and stand next to Jake.

"Hey," Jake says back and looks at him. "This is my girlfriend Jamie and my daughter Emily," Jake says and the boy looks at me. He smile's a little.

"So you're the mystical Jamie," the boy says and I smile back.

"That's Jeremy," Jake says and I nod.

We starts to walk back to our house and Emily sleeps the whole walk home.

I walk in the house and into the bedroom. They stay in the living room and I lay Emily down on the bed. I unzip her jacket and take it off very carefully. She stirs a little and I cover her up.

I stand up and walk toward the door. I walk out and quietly shut the door. I walk into the livingroom and Jake looks back at me. They are sitting on the couch and I sit in the chair.

"How old is Emily?" Jeremy asks both of us. I've noticed that every person who meets or even knows about Emily asks the same question, 'How old is she?'

"A week," Jake says back and Jeremy nods.

"So that's why you weren't at school," Jeremy says and Jake nods.

"What are you guys doing?" I ask and Jake looks at the paper in his hand.

"Chemistry," Jake says and looks at me.

"I thought it was biology?" I say back and he nods.

"I thought so too," Jake says back and smiles.

"Sucks for you guys," I say back and laugh a bit.

"Thanks," Jeremy says back and I nod. "Do you guys live here alone? I mean besides the baby," he asks and we nod.

"Pretty much, yeah. Every once in a while I'll stay at my Dad's house when we have to go somewhere far for work, but other than that," Jake says and looks at me.

"How the hell can you afford a house?" he asks and I shake my head.

"It's my house, I live alone, the house is paid for," I say back and Jake nods.

"Parents...?' Jeremy asks and I just shake my head, I really don't feel like explaining the whole story behind it or even where they went.

"No," I say back and I guess he's smart enough not to ask why because he just nods. I figure he'll ask Jake later when I'm not here and I'm fine with that.

"But anyway, I almost got suspended today," Jeremy says, changing topic.

"For what?" Jake asks and we both look at him.

"Fucking kissing my girlfriend in the hallway," he says back and I look at him confused.

"What?" Jake asks and he nods.

"I'm dead serious." Jeremy says back.

"They have never did that with us," I say back and Jake nods.

"You're not suppose to like physically touch anyone else, most teachers don't say anything, but Mrs. Bradshaw is not one of those teachers."

"Damn," Jake says back and he nods.

"And it wasn't even like making out or like having a sex scene in the hallway, it was pecking her lips before she went to class," he says back and I shrug.

"Suspension isn't really that bad honestly," Jake says and I nod.

"You've been suspended?" Jeremy asks and he nods.

"Yeah, I beat the hell out of someone," Jake says back.

"For what?" Jeremy asks and Jake looks back at me.

"Do you remember why?" Jake asks me and I nod.

"Jake went somewhere with his family for a while. A group of people, one person mainly, beat me up. Before I met Jake, I was bullied all the time, so they figured while he was gone they had a chance again. The got me so bad I had bruises all over me. So he came back and I think you get it," I say back and Jeremy looks at him.

"Who was it?" Jeremy asks.

"Dominick," Jake says and Jeremy nods.

"He is an ass," he says back and Jake nods.

"Well the only reason I hit him was becasue he thought he could take me. Jamie had asked me the morning before not to do anything like beat him up and I was going to still honestly, just not as bad as I did." Jake says back.

"I've only been in a few fights." Jeremy says and Jake nods

"Me too," Jake says and looks back at me. "The good part was, I told my Dad what has happened with Jamie and he just shook his head and told me not to get expelled, the only reason I didn't was becasue the guy at the office understood."

"Lucky you, my Mom freaked out me," Jeremy says and I nod. "You're protective of her?" Jeremy asks and Jake shrugs.

"Only when someone hurts her," Jake says back. "I dare a boy to hurt Emily," Jake says. Jeremy sighs and shakes his head.

"I feel bad for the boy who decides he is going to hurt her." Jeremy says and I nod again.

"Me too," I say and Jake looks at me again. He smiles and I smile back.
