"We're leaving," I wake up to Gemma's voice. I slowly open my eyes and see Jake sitting on the edge of the bed, rubbing his eyes. He nods and I very slowly sit up as well. Jake looks at me then Gemma does too. "We're leaving," she repeats and I look at her.
"What?" I ask tiredly and look at her.
"It's Saturday, we're going to my mom's..." she says and I stretch my arms out.
"Oh yeah, that," I say back.
"Bye," she says and waves at us. We both wave back and Jake looks back at me.
"Did you just wake up?" I ask him and he nods.
"Gemma woke me up," he say and I smile.
"Are you still tired?" I ask him and he shakes his head.
"Not really, you?" he asks back and I shrug.
"A little," I say and he shakes his head.
"You're not going back to sleep," he says and I sigh.
"Why?"
"Because it's almost two," he says and my eyes widen a little.
"Are you serious?" I ask and he nods. I guess the reason I've been sleeping so long is that I haven't been able to sleep lately.
"Come on," he says and pulls me up. He doesn't let go of my hand and leads me down stairs. I see what I'm guessing is Gemma, Gavin, and Anthony's mom. He lets go of my hand and we both sort of look at her in confusion.
"Hi Jake," their mom says sweetly to Jake. He gives her a light nod and she looks at me.
"Is this your girlfriend?" she asks and he nods. He walks next to me and puts his arm around my shoulders. We both face her. Gemma, Gavin, Anthony, and Lindsey are spread out across the couch and the floor."Yes," he says back.
"Were you two up late?" she asks us, smirking. We both know what she's talking about but he shakes his head.
"Actually no," I say back and I look at Anthony.
"What?" Anthony asks and I shake my head.
"Nothing," I say back and Jake lifts his arm off of me, walking to the fridge. I turn around to him and look into the empty refrigerator. He shuts it and turns back around.
"Yeah... We don't have anything." Jake says and lightly slips his hair out of his eyes. I smile and shrug.
"It doesn't really matter," I say back and he nods.
"You move a lot in you sleep." Jake asks and smiles.
"Do I really?" I ask and he nods.
"Yeah, you talk sometimes too. But it's okay because it's cute." he says back.
"What do I say?" I ask and he shrugs.
"You more mutter than talk." he says and I smile back at him.
Every once in a while, I have night terrors. I'm not positive that is what you would call it or it's just a bad nightmare. All I know is that after one, I wake up crying, I can barely breathe, and I'm basically panicing. Most of the time it's about my parents.
But only a few times it has been about Jake. When it was about him, it's usaully about him acting like my dad in the future, abusive, drunken, and just awful. After I wake up Jake is usually there to settle me down amd I can fall back asleep. But when it's just me, I have to just sit in my bed for about fifteen minutes and just calm myself down. I can never fall back asleep though.
These happened a lot more when Jake wasn't around, which is what caused my sleepless nights most of my life. Also the slight insomina I have would get in the way of sleeping as well. It has slowly died down within the past year with my parents gone, but sometimes I can go more than thirty six hours without sleeping.
"But how was Flordia? I never got to actually talk to you about that." I say and look at him.
"Crowded, we stayed in their grandfathers old house. There was only two bedrooms in the whole house. It was also just a little bit akward since their mom, their grandfathers daughter, came with her new boyfriend." he says and I nod.
"Damn," I say and he nods.
"Oh yeah, I talked to the Varsity baseball coach about me being out for the other two days of try-outs. He told me that he saw enough the first day in try-outs and in Gym and that I was on the team," he says and has a bright smile on his face.
"So you're that good?" I ask and he nods.
"Yeah," he says and I laugh a little.
"You sound conceded as hell," Chris says and walks into the kitchen.
"Shut up," Jake says back and Chris does the same thing that Jake did. Opens the refridgeratior, looks at it, then shuts it when he relizes that there is nothing in it.
"I love you but he's right," I say and look at Jake.
"You don't help with that," Chris says back and starts searching around the Kitchen.
"What?" I ask and Jake looks at him too. Jake moves over next to me so he can search through the cabnits.
"These walls aren't sound proof," Chris says and gets a bottle of water. I feel my face get a little red and he laughs. "I'm just kidding," he adds and Jake looks down at me.
"I'm not even loud," I say back and Jake rests his arm around me.
"No, but he is," Chris says and Jake shakes his head.
"I am not," he says back and I even see him getting a little red. Truth is, we both are but just a little, not loud enough for anyone to hear. Chris just laughs and walks out of the room.
"Whatever," he says as he walks away.
"Am I?" Jake asks and I shake my head.
"Not really," I say back and look up at him.
"Not really?" he asks and I laugh. He smiles and pecks my lips.
"He's just trying to embarrass you." I say and he rubs my arm a little.
