I wake up two days later to a nurse light shaking my shoulder.
"Hi mommy," she says quietly and smiles. I rub my face a little and look up at her. "Just wanted to let you know that you two can leave whenever you're ready," she says in the same quiet voice.
"Okay," I say back and look over at Jake who fell asleep in the chair next to the bed.
Two nights ago while me and Jake where asleep, my water broke and I had Emily at 12:13 a.m. on September 12th. It was definitely a lot harder then I thought, especally with a lot more pain too. She only weighs 4.9 pounds, but it still hurt like hell. Just like Dr.Griffin told us, everything's fine with her. She's just very small.
She already has pretty much a full head of dark brown hair. She can barly open her eyes but is easily shown that she has bright blue eyes like Jake.
"Hey," Chris says quietly and I look at them, I smile at them. The whole family is there standing in the door way.
"Hey," I say back and I sit up a little more.
"Where's Jake?" Gavin asks and I look back at him in the chair.
"He fell asleep and so was I until the nurse decided to wake me up to tell me that I could leave whenever." I say and he nods.
They all sort of walk over to where the seats are. Emily starts whining until it turns into a loud cry. Gemma's obviously dying to hold her. She wanted to yesterday but they had to leave.
"Do you want to get her?" I ask Gemma and she smiles. She nods and stands up.
Jake slowly opens his eyes and looks at us.
"Just be careful," I say over Emily's cries. She walks to the cart that's next to me and picks her up very slowly. Emily doesn't stop crying and she sits down next to Jake where she was sitting before. Gemma lightly bounces her and I look at Jake who looks back. He lightly smiles at me and I smile back.
"She won't stop," Gemma says and smiles a little. She looks at Jake who slowly takes Emily from her.
"God I just relized something," Jake says and looks at Chris. Emily slowly stops crying to Jakes voice.
"What?" Chris asks.
"You're a grandfather," Jake says back and Chris shakes his head.
"And you're a dad," Chris says back and Jake smiles a bit. He looks down at Emily and moves her hair off her forehead and to the side of her head.
"When can we leave anyway?" Jake asks and looks at me.
"Whenever we want," I say back and he nods. "Did you bring clothes for us?" I ask and he nods.
"I have the car seat too," Jake says and I nod.
After I change into jeans and a black tanktop with a sweater, I start to get Emily dressed.
"It feels so good to wear normal clothes again," I say and smile.
"I bet," Jake says and I nod. I see that Gemma is holding Emily again and she's whining a little. I slowly take Emily from her so I can dress her. I get Emily dressed into a white onesie with a pair of light pink pants.
"Do you guys want to come over for a little bit before you go home?" Chris asks and I look at Jake. He nods and so do I.
"Sure," Jake says and I hand Emily to Jake.
"Are you ready?" I ask and slowly stand up.
"Yeah," everyone says at almost the same time and I smile.
Jake and I walk out and Jake is holding her. I look at him and he looks back at me.
"This is really happening isn't it?" I ask and he smiles, looking down at Emily.
"It is," he says back and we walk out, waving at the girl that's behind the counter. Jake hands Emily to me carefully. "I'm going to get the car," he says back and I nod. By car, he means truck in case you didn't know. I take her and he walks away. I lean agaisnt the wall and look down at her.
She's awake but not crying, just looking up at me. I smile and lightly hold her small hand.
"Jamie?" someone asks and I look up at Ashley, one of the 'populars' last year. In times like this, I hate small towns.
"Yeah?" I ask and she looks at me then at Emily.
"Who's baby is that, your mom's?" she asks and I can tell by her face that she isn't kidding. I don't know if she forgot or something, but I look at her.
"Mine," I say back and her face turns to amazement.
"That's right, that's why you dropped out right?" she asks and I nod.
"Yeah," I say back and I see the truck. "I have to go," I say and look at her. She nods and smiles at me then she looks at Jake and smiles at him too. She walks into the hospital and I look at Jake who gets out of the truck. He looks at me then at Ashley walking away.
"What was that about?" he asks and I shake my head. I shrug a little.
"She asked me who's baby Emily was and I talk her mine." I say and he shrugs too but nods.
"She tries to talk to me all the time too in school." he says and he opens the door so I can put Emily in the car seat. I shut the door and get in the front. Jake gets in the drivers side and I look at him.
"Ready?" I ask and he nods. He turns it on and we head back to his dad's house.
"We're officially parents," Jake says to me and glances over at me. I take a deep breath and look back at Emily.
"I know," I say back and he smiles.
