"We're going out tonight," Jake says and looks at me as we walk back from the school. I've been meeting him after school almost everyday for the past month and a half.
"With Emily?" I ask and he shakes his head.
"I have family coming up from Baltimore, my Dad wants us to go with him to meet them at Olive Garden. Sarah can watch her," he says back and I look at Emily.
"Sarah?" I ask and he nods.
"Their Mom," he says back and I nod.
"Is there a reason she can't come?" I ask and he grips my hand a little.
"Becasue what is she going to do? She can't eat, she's not old enough to sit in a high chair. And plus, it would be a nice to have dinner without her, you know what I mean?" he asks and I nod.
"Wait why am I just now finding out about this?" I ask and look back at him.
"He called me last night while you two were asleep and I didn't want to wake you up just to tell you that. I didn't see you this morning so I thought it would be a surprise." Jake says back and he looks at me. "Surprise," he says back and I smile.
"When are we going?" I ask and he shrugs.
"They will be at Chris's around four and dinner at fiveish." he says and I nod as we approach the hosue.
"So you're saying just get ready now then leave?" I ask and he nods.
"Pretty much," he says and I nod.
"I'm ready now, I just have to get her ready," I say back and I open the door to the house.
"Really?" he asks and looks up and down at me.
"What?" I ask and look at myself. I have on dark blue jeans and a black tank-top with a white sweater that has black skulls.
"Nothing," he says and walks into the bedroom. I follow him and lay Emily on the bed.
"What?" I ask again and he takes off his shirt. He laughs and shakes his head.
"Nothing," he says again and he searches through the closet.
"Tell me," I ask again and he smiles.
"Nothing, really. I just like making you go crazy," he says back and I roll my eyes.
"I hate you," I say back and he grabs a button up, white, long-sleeve shirt.
"No you don't," he says and puts it on.
"Why are you dressing up?" I ask and he shrugs.
"I'm not, I'm wearing this, jeans, and a tie." he says back and I look at him.
"Still, is this okay?" I ask and look at myself. He nods and I look at him.
After an hour, we are both ready and so is Emily. We drop Emily off at Sarah's and we head to Chris's. We walk up to the door and I hold his hand.
"You'll be fine," he says to assure me. On the way here I've asked many questions about how they are and if they'd like me.
"Okay," I say and he opens the door. I don't let go of his hand and he doesn't go of mine. We walk in and I see four 'new' people.
One looks about our age maybe younger, a older woman who has a sweet and wrinkly face, then a middle-aged looking couple on the couch where they are holding hands.
"Hey," most of them say and they stand up.
The couple and the old lady hugs Jake and he lets go of my hand. The older lady looks at me and smiles.
