I missed kissing David for a schedule change. My entire schedule was changed and I had none of the same teachers at this point.

First period: Physical Education 1-2 with Griffen.
Second period: Sophomore English with Rich.
Third period: Geometry 1-2 with Bradford.
Instructional Intervention with Kerstetter.
Fourth period: Mythology 101 with Cox.
Lunch
Fifth Period: World History with State.
Sixth period: Forensics with Woodman.

"Of course the schedule doesn't kick in until Monday, sweetheart." My student advisor smiled, clicking her pen shut. I nodded slowly, rising and exiting the room, entirely lost and confused about where my classes would be. By time she was done speaking to me, second period was nearly over, meaning I would soon see Dave again, and incredibly soon at that.

So, do I kiss him in this period? Oh quit. Clearly he didn't want it if he walked away that fast. That also could've just been nerves. I mean, you were nervous too. Not like you were going to grab him quickly after it happened. True. Very true. But also, he's not you. He's clearly one to make a move if he plans on it, considering he was the one who pulled you in.

I let the questions swirl in my mind until I heard the first bell chime, signaling the start of third period. I waltzed in the door in one quick motion, sitting in the same seat I had sat in since my first day. I watched as the class filled, Dave taking a seat in the back of the room, keeping his head down as he typed away at his phone screen, both sets of knuckles split and crusted over with blood.

"Just finish your projects." Ms. Alexander barked, sighing and pinching the bridge of her nose. We all dispersed into our groups, taking our places around computer screens and various instruments. I watched as Dave adjusted the beanie on his head before making his way to the sound booth, slamming the door shut behind him and flicking on the lights, his music blaring moments later.

"What's got his panties in a bunch?" Austin, the guy I had been assigned to work with for the entire project, muttered under his breath, rolling his eyes and grabbing his backpack, dropping it at the side of the grand piano in the corner of the rather large room. I shrugged, adjusting the strap on my shoulder.

"Just have to record today." Austin beamed, smiling widely whilst playing a small tune on the keys in front of him.

"So you want me to ask Dave if we can get in there. Don't you?" I sighed, itching the back of my neck, adjusting my glasses on the bridge of my nose. He nodded, a small smile pulling at his lips.

"You're laying down the vocals for it." He shrugged, pushing me in the direction of the door with his foot. I rolled my eyes and nodded, opening the door slowly as I stepped in. The loud music was angry and heavy, unlike anything I was entirely used to playing.

"Dave." I mumbled, closing the door quietly behind me. His head was still down, eyes glued to his phone screen. I cleared my throat, speaking louder.

"Dave!" I barked over the music, finally catching his attention. He didn't look up, but instead turned down the music, still keeping his head low.

"What?" He asked, a hint of annoyance added to his voice.

"I need the room." I sighed, awkwardly playing with the loops of my jeans.

"Of course you do." He mumbled under his breath, turning off his music and placing the phone back in his pocket.

"I'm sorry?" I asked, my eyes turned to slits. He shook his head and moved his chair, rolling it into the wall behind him.

"I'm not leaving while you record, so make it quick." He sighed. I rolled my eyes, gesturing for Austin to hurry up and get in the room. He nodded and began setting up his things. I grabbed my headphones and plugged them, pushing the small earbud into my right ear, waiting for the piano to start. The project was to add our own twist to a song with either the instrumental aspect or the actual lyrics. Austin, being the lazy partner he is, suggested covering a song, which technically would meet all requirements. Picking the song was my responsibility, his was turning it into an acoustic take, and playing the instrument. I heard the familiar first key of Bruised by Jack's Mannequin begin to play, closing my eyes and stepping closer to the microphone.
