3:30am

I laid silently with David beside me, my fingers playing at the soft strands of his hair while he slept soundly, his head pressed to my chest while small snores escaped his lips, the feeling of his head pressed softly against the bare skin of my chest while my beating heart thumped under him only made me feel that much more aware of him and his small movements, like the way his lips twitched slightly into a smile each time I ran my fingers through his hair, or when I pressed a kiss to his forehead. My dad was away on a hunting trip with a few buddies he had met at his work, and my mother thought the idea of inviting David over was a good thing for my mental sake, but only after she was convinced the person her and my father saw me kissing in the truck, wasn't him. It was the first time he had ever seen where I lived. First time he had seen the small shack in all it's glory. He smiled and thanked my mother for allowing his presence and complimented the small collection of records that sat beneath the player on the glass table in my bedroom. As we laid together in the pale moonlight, the song Daisy by Brand New played subtlety in the background, the soft, slowly melodies of the previous albums played having lulled David to sleep hours before.

If the sky opened up and started pouring rain
Like he knew it was time
to start things over again
It'd be all right, it's all right,
it'd be easier that way.

Well if we take all these things
and we bury them fast
And we'll pray that they turn into seeds,
to roots and then grass
It'd be all right, it's all right,
it'd be easier that way

I listened to the song while looking Dave's hands over, looking to his scarred knuckles, pressing a small kiss to the skin.

"It'd be easier that way." I whispered, placing his hand softly on top of the blanket to my left, watching the moonlight from the cracks of the blinds tiredly. It was odd how much I felt myself falling in love with David. There were things I had never once thought about confiding with anyone that David now knew. I was an open book to him.

I hadn't gotten sleep that night, groaning softly as my alarm blared from the bedside table at 6:30.

Not a wink of sleep.

I woke David carefully, pressing small kisses to his lips and nose while rubbing at his chest.

"Hey. Up. I know you want to shower." I whispered, earning a groan in response.

"No. I'll go stinky. Let me sleep." He whined in an airy complaint, making me chuckle softly.

"You know you'd be mad at me and yourself if I let you go without it." I murmured, making him smile in his sleep.

"Fine." He breathed, opening his eyes lazily, rubbing at them softly before looking me over.

"You look like shit." He breathed, unaware of how harsh the statement came, making me scoff.

"You too, sunshine." I smirked, making his eyes widen.

"No. Shit. I'm sorry. Not like, shit-shit, but shit. Like, your eyes definitely show you didn't sleep." He quickly stated, making me smirk.

"I didn't sleep. That's why." I breathed, yawning after, which only earned a sigh from him in return.

"C'mon then. You shower too. I'll make you coffee." He smiled, making me grin widely.

"Considering it's my house, I can make the coffee, you clean up first. Deal?" I hummed, earning a sleepy nod and a lazy kiss to my lips from Dave before he rolled over, nuzzling the pillow once more. He eventually stood and pulled on the basketball shorts he was wearing from the night before, getting dressed before my mother could find us and suspect anything. Of course, we hadn't had sex, but just hiding the relationship was a task in itself. David left the room first, stumbling into the bathroom while I scurried to the kitchen, starting the coffee pot with a loud yawn.
