"I can't just take you out of the country like that!" The statement sounded almost shrill, like a scared child not wanting to get caught in the act of their wrong doings. I laughed at the expression on Dave's face before letting out an exasperated sigh.

"It's only out of the country if we can't find said person at their normal house. Then we go to Mexico and find them. No biggie." I shrugged, situating the journal back in my bag around the clothing before zipping it shut.

"No biggie? The fact that I'm an adult taking a minor across the border with me makes this a biggie, Andrew!" He exclaimed, eyes wide as the vein in his neck began to grow erect from the anxiety coursing through him. I began to laugh as I reached for his hand, pulling him back down onto the large bed, turning into my side to face him.

"You're going to take me." I stated, poking his chest rather hard, an ache spreading through my finger as it popped upon impact. His brows perked as he scoffed.

"And why's that? What makes you think I'm going to?" He asked, watching as I bit my bottom lip.

"Because if you don't, I'll just ask Hayden." The statement came out as more of a taunt than planned, but it seemed to work as Dave's eyes widened.

"You aren't going with Hayden. The guy hardly even knows how to drive." He scoffed, clearly biting back venomous words that he wouldn't dare say in front of Hayden.

"I don't know." I hummed with a shrug.

"He's pretty cool. Has a decent taste in music. Nice truck. I might just ask." I hummed, standing up only to be yanked back down by Dave.

"Yeah, over my dead body." He scoffed, fingers playing at his hair as he kept his hand tightly around my wrist.

"C'mon." I pleaded, looking to Dave with doe eyes and a jutted bottom lip. I got a sigh in response and he began rolling over me to get off of the bed.

"No." I huffed, arms and legs quickly tightening around Dave, his eyes widening at the sudden closeness of our bodies.

"I-I- no?" I asked, quickly letting go, body falling back onto the bed softly before quickly scooping up my bag.

"I'm sorry." The words quickly rolled from my tongue as I began running down the stairs, jumping down the final three with a stumble before making my way to the door, the loud sound of feet fumbling down the stairs following me before a hand slammed the door shut.

"Where are we going?" He breathed, chest rising and falling quickly. I turned to face him with my own shocked expression before speaking.

"New Mexico. Small town." I murmured, adjusting the bag before stepping away from the door.

"Alright. We'll leave in just a little while." He nodded, quickly pulling away before running back up the stairs to his bedroom to get clothing, stuffing the items into a duffle bag before grabbing his keys and several bottles of water.

"Let's go. I don't want to miss Thanksgiving." He nodded, pulling his jacket closer to his body as he walked into the garage, opening it and throwing his things in the back before taking mine and throwing them back as well.

With six hours wasted and a ten hour drive ahead of us, we hit the road, traveling in the direction of the setting sun.

"You're not allowed to fall asleep. If I'm driving, you can play music as long as it isn't shit, and you have to stay up and talk. Deal?" He asked, making me grin.

"Yeah. Deal." I breathed, grabbing the auxiliary cord and plugging in my phone, scrolling through before stopping in the 'F' section, stopping on Flatsound with an awkward smirk.
