The start of school again lit a fire beneath Nari. This was her final year, and she had to do her best.

Her results this year were decent, she couldn't necessarily complain, but she knew she could do better.

But the only way she would be able to do that is if she stopped worrying about Jacob Bae every two seconds.

The two called every night, but the last few nights they hadn't. She put it down to the fact that he had just experienced his first week of classes, and that she also couldn't expect them to be as close as they once were.

This was inevitable, but nothing could have prepared her for it.

"This is class, you shouldn't be checking your phone," Eric said in a high pitched voice, looking over the girls shoulder.

"Shut up it hasn't even started yet," Nari said, locking her phone and placing it back in her skirt pocket. "Why are we the only ones here?"

"You're asking the wrong person," the boy shook his head, watching as a few more people filled the class. "Maybe a lot of people didn't take this class."

She shrugged, looking over to see Changmin walking in lazily, like he had no interest in being here.

The girl smiled at him softly, to which he relatively ignored, but he did look slightly more friendlier than usual, that was a plus. And anyways, he wasn't part of her life anymore, really.

Next in came the boy she dreaded seeing, Haknyeon, as he walked in smugly and sat down, glancing over at the girl from his seat.

"Freak," Eric said abruptly to the boy, who scoffed and turned away. "Honestly, what a waste of space."

Nari chuckled, not even remotely trying to hide her laugh at her best friends reaction. "Now, now."

Eric shook his head, taking out his notepad as he doodled on it, leaving Nari to stare at the blank screen again. Her head jilted up when she heard the chatter from the few girls in the room, her eyes meeting his.

His hair was no longer red, it was back to black, his natural colour. Part of Nari missed the red, but she squeezed her eyes shut to rid herself of those thoughts, she shouldn't miss anything about him, right?

The boy smiled when he saw her, but as she turned away quickly, his smile faded too.

Hyunjae trailed behind him, his eyes locking at the girl who stared under the desk, hoping Eric wouldn't look up or notice at any moment.

"Hey," the boy raised his head, looking at the two as they stood awkwardly at a table. He turned to Nari, who looked up confused. "Should we invite them to sit there?"

The boy whispered, pointing to the chairs in front of them, to which she shrugged carelessly. Except, she really did care.

"Sit there guys," Eric said, clapping Hyunjae's hand as he walked past, Sunwoo keeping his head down. "Did you guys have a good summer?"
