IT WAS A GREAT DAY IN TOKYO,
the usual busy streets filled with people was the every day scene in the city. It was already mid-June and the summer season is making Japan a little hotter than usual. A timid girl was walking down the street with a face mask and a baseball cap on, hands inside her oversized hoodie and head lowered, so that no one would notice or recognize her even the slightest. She was walking all alone because it was a known fact that if someone recognizes her, all hell will break loose.
Although she was alone, she felt free. Free from everyone's expectations.
Even if it was just for a while.
The girl actually sneaked out from her apartment. Considering that today was her day off, her manager was thankfully not at her apartment, bugging her and explaining her schedule since she was on a day off too. Probably sleeping in the whole day.
Making her way to the park near her apartment, she chuckled, imagining her manager with drool dripping from her mouth as she sleeps peacefully, hair messed up and in an awkward position.
For so long, the girl has always wanted to come to the said park but wasn't allowed to due to her very hectic schedule and current status. Never has she experienced spending some time for herself since she arrived in the city. She never had the chance to explore Tokyo and everything in it. Everyday was just so busy and tiring that she would rather prefer to sleep and rest up than explore the city and what it holds.
It's been a year since the young girl left Miyagi and moved to Tokyo, trying to achieve and reach everyone's expectations, and move on from him. A lot has changed with her physically and mentally. Well, who wouldn't change after everything that happened, right?
Pain makes a person change, they say.
The park was filled with benches and people, families with their children, teenagers with their friends, all enjoying the nice weather. As the girl silently sat on one of the benches under a tree that provided shade, her eye caught a bunch of kids who were playing volleyball, a sport she dearly loves and miss. They were passing the ball around while laughing as she watched them with a small smile under the mask she wore.
She then looked at the other two who were isolated from the group and had their own ball. It was a girl and a boy who appears to be in middle school? Or maybe grade school, at least. They were currently practicing what seems to be jump serves. They were also wearing volleyball uniforms and kneecaps.
The two were facing each other at a distance, the girl was the one serving while the boy was the one who was receiving. The boy would often come to the girl after she serves, gets the ball, and teaches her how to properly do a strong and powerful jump serve, one that would definitely be a no-touch ace if used properly due to its power and speed.
The boy seemed to be more skilled than the girl as he instructed her on what she was supposed to do, the girl nodding in response. Watching them intrigued the female for they both made her remember a few memories.
The boy's powerful serve made her remember something, or someone rather. She suddenly then imagined them as her and that person. Flashes of memories came before her very eyes as a single tear escaped.
