June, Age 15

 

It's been 2 months since my third year of middle school.

 

2 months since Tooru, Iwa, and Karina entered high school.

 

And 1 year and four months since me and Tooru got together.

 

When school started, I was appointed as our team's captain, which somehow still surprised me. I was hesitant to accept it at first because I never really led anything like this. Sure, I became vice-captain last year and our class representative but now, I have to lead the team hands-on and make decisions for the team as well, making sure it was the right decision to do. It was tough, considering how I...

 

Nevermind.

 

We had a lot of talented first years and they were all skilled in the basics, which was very cool since we didn't have to start from scratch. Not that it's a bad thing but at least it won't be that time-consuming. There were also a few second years and they were equally skilled as well. Our number of newbies was larger than the past two years, making the team members more than those from the past two years.

 

They managed to keep up with our strategies and techniques and now, we're mostly just polishing our techniques with the new first years. I also created a new training routine as well as techniques with our coach and vice-captain, Kirina, who happens to be a third-year like me and is in the same class as mine. She was Karina's younger sister and joined the club a year after I did. We already met before because of Karina but we weren't really close but, ever since she became my vice-captain, we became close friends. She was very nice and very understanding, she also helped a bunch in creating techniques, so we really got along, which made me super glad.

 

When we asked the newbies why they joined Kitaiichi and the volleyball and most of their answers were because of me, which shocked the old members, especially me. They wanted to play with me or be taught by me and hearing that really flattered me. I didn't imagine myself being an inspiration and motivation for others to get into this school and sport so it was very heart-warming for me, and it gave me the one thing I always craved.

As for my best friends and my boyfriend, despite Aoba Johsai being a bit farther from Kitagawa Daiichi, Tooru and Iwa always make sure to walk home with me since when they walk home, they'll pass Kitaiichi on the way. It was usually the  three of us walking together since Karina was out of the way and lives in a different neighborhood, though sometimes, she would join us to pick up her sister from Kitaichi then goes out of the way from there.

 

Karina still talks to me less than before, I would often catch her glaring at me but I always shrugged it off and gave her a smile, starting a conversation with her even though she only gives me cold and short replies. I still haven't confronted her about the way she was being towards me since I haven't got the chance to because she always tries to avoid me as much as she can. She usually only talks when Tooru or Iwa is in the conversation. I tried asking Kirina about it but she was clueless as well.
