(v) talk

gojo walked back into the room where y/n was, making sure no one saw him enter and that shoko wasn't there at the time.

his eyes fell on the girl, who was still in bed asleep, looking exhausted. or so he thought. 

"hey y/n", he muttered, sitting down beside her. an uneasy feeling rose in his stomach as he thought about all the time that had passed without them seeing each other. without thinking, he said "i missed you"

y/n's eyes fluttered open as she heard his words, looking up at him. "come on, you don't get to say that"

"y/n!", he jumped up, realising she'd heard him, "i didn't-"

"hi", she said calmly, "let's start with hi. it's been a while hasn't it?"

he looked at her, surprised before slowly replying. "hi y/n"

she tried to sit up, groaning slightly in pain as she did. he got up to help her but she held up a hand, motioning him to stop.

"how has everything been for you?", she asked. politely. as if she was talking to a stranger.

"it's been.. great", he replied quietly, "where did you end up?"

"just here and there", she replied vaguely, "i became a special grade"

"yeah i found out", he recalled, smiling, "congrats on that"

"thanks", she smiled, and he nodded, unsure of what he could say.

"you seem surprised", she said, making him look up at her. he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees and she caught a glimpse of his sky- coloured eyes behind the glasses he was wearing.

"well, considering how things were when you left...", he shrugged, "i just thought you'd be more.."

"petty? satoru, i left six years ago.", she stated, "that's a long time, you know"

"so... you're not mad at me?", he tilted his head. clearly he wasn't expecting her to be this way.

"i can't blame you for falling out of love with me, can i?", she asked bluntly. the question hurt him for some odd reason he couldn't point out.

"technically..... no"

"there you have it", she answered, "now that you know i'm here, i might as well be mature about it and stuff"

"so... what does this mean?", he asked, "are we okay?"

"we're just fine", she replied, hissing slightly because of the pain in her shoulder, "thanks for saving me by the way. from the spirit back there"

"oh it was a walk in the park. because-"

"you're the strongest", she rolled her eyes, "you really haven't changed huh"

"aww come on i'm way more responsible now", he whined, "i have students, for god's sake"

"i know! i met them. 'gOjO sEnSei' "

"kugasaki was impressed by your cursed technique", he leaned back

"as she should be", she chuckled.

the conversation between them seemed less forced now. more natural. the years they spent apart seemed to not matter. it was always easy for them to just talk.

"shut up the pink haired kid can control sukuna?!", she asked, evidently astonished

"I KNOW! i was so surprised, damn you have no idea", he agreed and she laughed.
