"y/n", shoko muttered as she hovered over her, trying to heal her, "respond to me, damn it"

her cursed energy levels had fallen drastically. she was still unconscious, but she could hear whatever shoko was saying.

"sorry for making you worry, ieri senpai"

gojo had disappeared after leaving her at the school. he bore absolutely no readable expression before he mumbled something about having to train yuuji.

ten hours since y/n collapsed

"am i dying?", y/n wondered

"at least i'm dying on my birthday. idk i've always had a weird fascination with that concept. it's so satisfying and full circle."

"what happened to y/n sensei?", maki asked shoko, breathless from running too fast, glancing at y/n who was still unconscious

"someone drugged her to decrease her cursed energy, i'm assuming it was another shaman", she replied. "because my cursed technique reversal is not working"

whoever did this wasn't trying to kill her. the dose given was not a fatal dose.

as they were talking, gojo walked into the room, peeked at y/n and then walked back out without saying a word.

"what-", maki began

"don't ask", shoko sighed, "he's been doing that like every ten minutes for the last hour"

"ohh", she pushed her glasses up, "so what's gonna happen to y/n sensei"

"she won't die but i don't know if her cursed energy will increase either. we'll just have to wait and see".

fourteen hours since y/n collapsed

"you're not fooling anyone gojo", ieri hummed as he walked in, "why don't you just admit that you wanna see her"

he didn't say anything. just like he hadn't said anything all day.

"i know", she said plainly, "you have an idea of who did this"

"the question you should be asking is why, not who", he replied, "i think i know who it is though"

"are you gonna tell me?"

"no"

"ugh fine. what's the motive?"

"that i don't know", he said quietly

"it's not your fault", she sensed how tense he was even though he'd been out training yuuji all day

"please don't", he said, letting out a hollow laugh, "i'm not gonna 'talk about it' or whatever"

gojo wanted to distract himself after leaving y/n in the very capable hands of his closest friend. but to find out that she wasn't getting any better was affecting him far too much.
