"i wanna tell someone else why i hurt her"

y/n stopped, facing him slowly.

"it was about time"

"heh?", he tilted his head, "so you knew there was a reason?"

"i was alone with my thoughts for a long time", she shrugged, "obviously i considered the scenario where you had a reason"

"and here i thought i was being dramatic with the big reveal and stuff", he folded his arms, "then why didn't you ask me about it?"

"imagine if there was no underlying reason. how desperate would i look? like some delusional person who can't accept that her boyfriend broke up with her. and besides you had said enough."

"that's fair", he got up, "i can't tell you here, let's go somewhere else"

"don't you wanna be with your dearest almost fiancé", she asked, her voice laced with sarcasm and something that one could almost interpret as jealousy.

"utahimeeeee", he called out in a singsong voice, "tell the higher ups i'll give THEM a death penalty if they insist on us getting married"

"will do", utahime held out a peace sign as kaori handed her a bottle of beer.

"eh, crisis temporarily averted", gojo laid his hand on her lower back to push her forward, "now let's go and listen to my overdue explanation, okay y/n?"

"ugh fine", she walked out of the bar with him, "where do you wanna go?"

"my apartment", he replied, "you remember it don't you?"

she nodded yes as they sat in his car. a fucking tesla.

"tell me", she said as he started driving

"hold on for just five minutes", he looked at her seriously. he hardly ever looked serious. it didn't suit him.

and so they ended up at his penthouse apartment. she looked around in surprise. he'd definitely got it renovated, and clearly had not held back because he had no need to care about money. that's to be expected from the head of a major clan.

she sat down on the couch, her patience slowly depleting as he joined her.

"okay", he exhaled heavily, "so as i told you, there was a reason i broke up with you"

she nodded.

"are you sure you wanna know?", he asked

"yes"

"it has to do with the gojo clan", he finally began

y/n was surprised. she had honestly expected the zenin clan to be the problem because his clan was always pretty neutral towards her.

"continue"

"and it also has to do with your dad"

y/n looked straight into his eyes and then back down. she said nothing. she fiddled with her hair. her breathing got shallower. her hands trembled.

her dad. her asshole dad. who abandoned her the day she watched a curse kill her mother. a trauma so great she had repressed it for practically her whole life.

she snapped back to reality as gojo brought his hand to her face. he knew the topic was one she never talked about. she needed the contact, and she closed her eyes for a bit, leaning into his touch.

"do i continue?", he asked and she nodded silently

"might as well"

"your dad was a sorcerer", he said, carefully observing every movement she made, "a powerful one at that. not as powerful as me obviously but, eh, you get the idea. anyway so he betrayed my clan."
