Sam didn't think he had ever seen anything prettier in his life. As he stood by the door, he watched as AJ moved across the room, so effortlessly in her pointe shoes and with such grace she almost seemed to be floating. And, sure, Sam knew he was welcome to walk into the room since AJ herself had invited him to come, but the woman seemed to be in such a moment that he didn't want to interrupt her. So, instead, he stood by the door, leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed over his chest and a smile on his lips as he kept his eyes glued on AJ as she danced and did her pirouettes and whatnot's. And as he watched her, for a moment, he completely forgot where they were, who they were and how they found themselves in that situation. AJ wasn't just the pretty secretary that he had been trying to take on a date and who could, possibly, be the mother of his first child. In that moment, just as lost in her dancing as she seemed to be, AJ was just that — a dancer, a performer. And one of the best ones Sam Evans had ever seen in his whole life.

It wasn't until the song was finally done that Sam made himself known as he clapped for the performance. He smiled a bit when AJ turned around in a surprised jump, but relaxed as soon as she recognized him. She smiled then, nodding Sam over.

"How long have you been there?" She asked, walking over to her bag as she sat down on the floor and grabbed her water bottle.

"Like two minutes." Sam shrugged, moving toward her and sitting down too, in front of AJ.

"And why didn't you call me?" She asked then. "You've been standing there for two minutes?"

"It's not that long, babe." He chuckled as she rolled her eyes at him. "Besides, you were so into your choreography that I couldn't find it in me to break that moment. You are fantastic, by the way. I don't think I've ever seen anyone dance like you."

"Stop." AJ blushed a bit. "Thank you, though."

Sam noticed then how she placed her water bottle down beside her and reached for her pointe shoes to unlace them, but before she could reach them, Sam placed his hands over her shins and looked up at her when she frowned at him.

"Can I take them off?" He asked her gently as AJ tilted her head to the side.

"My feet look horrible after practice."

"It's not like I really care how they look." He told her and the simple words made AJ's head spin.

Nodding at him then, AJ watched in silence as Sam placed both of her feet in his lap and, very carefully, started to pull out the ribbons and undo the knots she had made about an hour earlier. AJ felt her heart skip a beat when Sam finally managed to pull both of her shoes from her feet as he held them up a bit, curiously. AJ watched him with a smile, tucking her feet under her as she crossed her legs to hide her toes, still a bit conscious about them. Sam didn't even notice, though, too entranced by the pointe shoes to even care.

"How do you dance with those?" He asked, suddenly as AJ laughed. "They're rock solid."

"This part is." AJ nodded, knocking on the box of the shoe he was holding for effect, but reaching for her other one as she twisted it a bit. "But the sole moves, see?"

"This is amazing." Sam marveled as AJ chuckled at his enthusiasm over the shoes. "How long have you been wearing these?"

"These ones specifically?" AJ asked, looking down at the shoe in her hand. "Three years, maybe? But I've been dancing with the pointe since I was fifteen."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"And when did you start taking ballet?"

"I actually don't remember a period of my life I wasn't doing it." AJ shrugged. "I mean, my mom is a dance teacher so of course she'd push me to do that too. She put me into those baby classes for ballet but as I grew older, I actually started to enjoy it a lot, so... I just kept going and going and now... Here we are."
