"Just entered the 21st week, is that correct, Miss Sylvester?" Dr. Beiste asked, as he sat beside the bed AJ was laying in, fixing the settings on the screen so they could go through another ultrasound.
"Yes, that's right." AJ nodded then as Dr. Beiste nodded, putting the usual gel in her stomach as he moved the wand around.
"And how are you feeling?" The doctor asked, as AJ shrugged a bit.
"Good." She said looking up at Sam for a second as he stood beside her on the bed with a smile, looking over at the screen even though he really couldn't make out much from it. "My back is hurting and my feet are kind of swollen, but I'm not throwing up anymore so that's good, right?"
"That's great. You're getting all the right symptoms at the right time, which means your baby is developing well. See? Right here." Dr. Beiste said, pointing at a form on the screen as both AJ and Sam turned to look at it too. "Everything seems to be in order and you and the baby look very healthy. Do you have any complaints, Ms. Sylvester?"
"Not really, no." AJ shook her head then.
"Well, good." Dr. Beiste nodded. "You should probably start thinking about birth plans and how you would like to have your baby so that we can discuss it the next time you come over. Pregnancy classes are a good idea too."
"We've been to a few." Sam spoke up then, as Dr. Beiste turned to him with a nod of his head. "My parents gave them to us a gift."
"Well, that's good." Dr. Beiste smiled. "Then, really, right now, you should start worrying less about the pregnancy and more about what will come after. Did you already start a nursery?"
"We... Hum, we..."
"No." Sam interrupted AJ, noticing how she started to grow a bit anxious already and grabbing her hand in his for comfort. "No, but we will. Soon."
"Great." Dr. Beiste nodded. "Now, everything else is in order so... Before I let you go, I have one last question: I can see now the sex of your baby. Would you guys want to know?"
And, at that, AJ and Sam exchanged glances. When AJ smiled excitedly at Sam, he knew she did want to know and he'd be lying if he said he didn't too, so, nodding at her, Sam lifted his head to look at Dr. Beiste instead.
"We would love to know." Sam said, as AJ nodded in agreement, turning to look at the doctor too.
"Well, then..." He said, taking another look at the screen before pulling the wand from AJ's stomach and turning to the pair in front of him with a smile. "Congratulations, you two. You are having a boy."

Sam was overjoyed. A boy! They were having a boy! His little boy growing stronger and stronger everyday and now that he knew it, he couldn't help but picture it: his little lad, with bright green eyes like him, but flaming red hair like his momma and her pretty smile. He could see them playing tag around the house, or using fake swords to battle as one of them tried to save Princess Mommy, or, when he was a bit older, Sam could see himself teaching him how to play football, or how to play guitar. Maybe AJ could teach him how to dance. Anything he wanted to do, Sam knew he'd go to the ends of Earth to make sure he did it. And he knew AJ would too. After all, she had been just as happy with the news as he had when they got them. She had cried and laughed and whispered sweet nothings to her belly as she talked to their son.
So, Sam knew she was happy too. But, right now, as the both of them sat in his sofa eating some Chinese take out as per AJ's request, Sam worried about her since she hadn't really said anything in a while now.
"Babe... Are you okay?" Sam asked then, placing his spring rolls down on the center table as he scooted closer to AJ. "Talk to me, baby. Let me in."
