AJ was starting to regret this decision already. Sure this was a great opportunity and she knew her skills would be put to good use in that place but good God... Having to hear William Schuester, of all people, yelling at her and belittling her for almost three hours when she hadn't even done anything wrong yet was seriously getting on her nerves.
Focus, AJ... You need the money, come on.
And honestly, that was the only thing keeping her going at this point. After all, with the amount of money she'd make in just a year working there would allow her to help her mom out a bit and — if she lived out of her bare necessities and saved all the money she could — maybe, she'd be able to afford that ballet course in the New York Dance Academy that she had always dreamed about. So, for those reasons and those reasons only, AJ stayed quiet, letting Schuester unload all of his high school trauma that he hadn't had the courage to unload in her mom when they studied together on her instead while keeping to herself all of the comments she had about his greasy hair, horrible vests and elfish looks.
"Do you understand, Ms. Sylvester?" Schuester spat at her, finally done with his rant as AJ sighed to calm herself down a bit.
"I understand, Mr. Schuester." She said, even though she had blocked out pretty much half of what he had said already, having grown tired of his voice in general.
"Good." Schuester sent her a dirty look before sitting back down in his obnoxiously big chair. "I'll call Ms. Wilde so she can show you around. But keep in mind, I'll be watching you, Ms. Sylvester."
"Feel free, Mr. Schuester." AJ smiled rather falsely at the man. "I have nothing to hide."
"Right." Schuester scoffed, clearly unconvinced. He reached for a phone then and dialed a short number there, waiting for a second before speaking up again. "Ms. Wilde, can you please come into my office? Good. Thank you."
After that, AJ and Schuester stayed there in the office in an awkward silence for about twenty seconds and, when the door was pushed open and a young blonde, short woman appeared, AJ could have almost swore she let out a sigh of relief.
"Ms. Wilde, this is Ms. Sylvester. She'll be working closely with you, as a new secretary." Schuester explained, without much ceremony. Not that AJ expected any, anyway. "Could you show her around, please? Introduce her to everyone on the floor?"
"Yes, sir." Ms. Wilde nodded, before turning to AJ with a small smile and nodding at the corridor behind her.
"A pleasure, Mr. Schuester." AJ managed to say through gritted teeth, rolling her eyes a bit when Schuester just grunted in acknowledgment.
Ms. Wilde held the door open for AJ then, smiling a bit to her before closing Schuester's office door behind them and turning to AJ with an extended hand in her direction.
"I'm Kitty." She said, smiling when AJ shook her hand with a smile as well.
"Amelia." AJ introduced herself. "But, hum... You can call me AJ. Everyone does."
"AJ?" Kitty frowned as AJ smiled.
"Amelia Jean."
"Oh, AJ. I get it." Kitty nodded. "Well, anyway, AJ, you and I will be working over there, taking calls, receiving guests, setting up appointments, you know the drill..."
AJ nodded then, turning to look at the big desks just in front of the elevators that Kitty had pointed to.
"Well, this floor is basically management." Kitty continued, as she spun around in her heels a bit, trying to figure out where to start with the new secretary. "So, well, you know Mr. Schuester, right? He's the boss and his office... Well, you know, you've been there."
