Chapter 10-
"Oh my God, the guy's bathroom? Argh gross. Yep definitely burn those shoes, shame though; I bought them for you for your birthday last year. Expensive and designer shoes as well." She said and pouted. She looked like she wanted to say something else so I waited. Then she continued, "Oh your birthday! It's only in a couple of days isn't it? What are you doing for it? Your sixteenth birthday. Maybe get a little..?" she said and pointed at her lips. Big smiles lit up our faces and laughter filled our little area.
"Are you suggesting me and Daniel..?" I pointed at my lips.
"Hell yeah I am!" she said and we both giggled uncontrollably. Then she stopped so I stopped as well. "Sorry about that other guy, Trevor. Going off with Sarah of all people, but he was hanging with you then all of a sudden he changed and went straight to her. You even saw his body language and facial expression change. He was hot as well." She said sadly. I opened my mouth then closed it, speechless.
"Um yeah, he is pretty hot. But why are you saying sorry to me? You're the one that likes him! You basically bagsed him!" I said sadly. She put her other hand on my shoulder for comfort. To comfort herself and me. Or so I'd thought because then she leaned in and whispered something in my ear.
"He's mine." She whispered. I turned my head and met her eyes with a playful open mouth. "What? You get Daniel, I get Trevor. It's a win win because they're both hot." She continued. I nodded slowly.
"I know. I just said that dummy." I said in a dumb sounding voice.
"I know. I was just making sure that you knew."
"You came over to my house the other day and said so and then you just said it again."
"I know. As I said I was just being thorough." She said. I saw her point, I didn't need two hot guys but somehow sharing didn't sit right with me. There was this feeling I got and I didn't like it. It felt like anger and it was directed at Sonny. It dawned on me that having someone else's hands on Trevor, even if they were Sonny's, was what made the sharing bit a little hard. What was wrong with me? It was Sonny! She deserved someone nice. Maybe Trevor wasn't the right one, what I'd seen from him at the start of lunch, he wasn't that nice at all. But still, she's my best friend. Make sure she doesn't get hurt, I reminded myself again. Forever. Damn, I guess that means she bagsed him and you can't move in on a bagsed guy- Girls' Code of Honour Rule 1. I wonder if that meant ever though. But that would be weird for me to date him after they dated. I'd feel like a fill in to him. To anyone, actually.
"Damn." We both said as the bell rung. I dug into my bag and pulled out my small apple. First lunch was longer than the second but it felt as if it had only been a few minutes from the start to the end of it. I took a bite of my small red delicious apple.
"Let's go to Science!" I said. We pasted a bin half way to the Science building and I dumped the apple core in it and continued on our journey to the building. We slipped into our seats and the lesson started. Throughout the lesson Sonny kept looking at me and her eyes showed the excitement that she felt, I just smiled and shook my head. We headed off to our next class which we didn't have together, same subject just different classrooms and teachers.
"History was totally boring!" Sonny said as we headed back through the hallways of the school to the nearest exit which lead to the outside tables after class.
"I know right? The topic we are learning about is stupid!" I said. We were learning about how to be good global citizens and how we can help Global South countries. "Yeah I wanna help and all but it's just that I couldn't care right now. That sounds bad doesn't it?" I continued.
"Little bit." Sonny said as she nodded. I dropped my bag to the ground then turned in a little circle like a cat, before I sat down at the tree, which was especially funny when I'm technically a dog for being a Werewolf.
"You're a freak, you know that?" Sonny said after watching me sit down. I laughed and she smiled the 'Oh-My-God-Your-A-Freak' smile, then she laid down and put her head in my lap. I looked down at her.
"Yeah, I'm the freak."
"What? Your lap is comfy!" she said in her defence. She closed her eyes and I went back into my bag in search for my sandwich, on it was Peanut Butter-the Smooth kind not the Crunchy, I hated the Crunchy. Even though her eyes were closed she held out her hand.
"You know that every morning when I make my lunch, I always cut my sandwich in half because of you?" I said as I handed her her half. She took a bite then made a disgusted face.
"Ew gross, Smooth? Really? You know I like Crunchy!"
"Then give it back then. You know I like Smooth not Crunchy. Take it or leave it, Sister."
"Fine." She said and tore another bite off her half. We ate our halves in silence. Sonny had finished and I was chewing my last bite when I saw Trevor heading our way.
"Sonny. Quick, get up." I whispered around my mouth full of food. She didn't open her eyes.
"Why?"
"Quickly! Someone's coming our way!"
"So?" she said. I chewed faster, nearly choking.
"Well it's someone you know you..." I whispered as I swallowed and then her eyes flew open as she realised what I was hinting at. She turned her head and we both looked up. He was only a couple of feet away. Sonny sat up as he came closer. She sat cross-legged while I kept sitting the way I was, legs stretched out in front of me with my ankles crossed. I wiped my face with the back of my hand. Sonny did the same.
"Hey." Trevor said as he joined us on the ground. He sat opposite to us. I glanced at Sonny. She looked way too excited and very nervous; talking to your crush does that to you. Todd's friends were kind of cute and they used to come over to the house sometimes... not that anything happened.
"Hey." Sonny said quickly. Oh no Sonny, don't let it show.
"Hi?" I made it a question because what the hell was he doing here? He smiled at Sonny and I could see what it did to her- it melted her heart.
"Hey, Sonny, isn't it?" Trevor asked and when she nodded, he continued. "You had the right idea there."
"What do you mean?" Sonny asked confused. For his answer he moved beside me and laid down and did exactly what Sonny did-put his head in my lap.
"Huh. You were right Sonny; Willow's lap is really comfy." He said, closing his eyes. My mouth fell open. Crap, Sonny was death staring me and all I could give her back was a helpless shrug. I held up one finger and unzipped my bag. I searched through it until I found what I was looking for. I positioned the big fat slice of chocolate cake in the palm of my hand in front of her and moved my hand toward her, gesturing. Her eyes widen and she stopped death staring me. I mouthed 'Peace offering' at her and she smiled, took the cake out of my hand and nodded. She unwrapped the Gladwrap from around the piece of cake.
"You know me to well." She said happily after taking a bite of the rich chocolaty goodness. I made the cake a few days ago but took a piece today to make sure that it was still ok. I guess it was worth losing if it made Sonny not hate me anymore. She was half way through when I remembered I bought two pieces- one for me and one for her. I looked back through my bag and pulled out my piece. I was just about to take a bite when Trevor raised his hand. Deja vu much? It was just like what Sonny did when her head was in my lap.
"Half please." He said. Aw but this was my piece. His eyes were still closed so I looked at Sonny with a 'What-The-Heck-Am-I-Supposed-To-Do' expression. 'Do it' she mouthed at me. 'Then he'll stay here with us!' she continued to mouth at me.
"Ok. Here." I said and placed half the cake in his hand.
"Thanks." He answered. As I moved my hand away he moved his so that his cake's icing hit my hand leaving a circle of chocolate icing on my knuckles.
"Thanks." I sighed.
"Oh, I can fix that." He said.
"Yeah? So can I." I said and started to raise my hand but he seized it in his and took it to his lips. My eyes widened. Oh my God he can't... My breath caught in my throat as he kissed my knuckles slowly. My blood pumped quicker through my veins as I could feel his tongue slowly moving across my knuckles, getting all the icing off and all the while he was holding my gaze. He smiled at me with the same dazzling smile he gave Sarah at first lunch. Even though he'd given her that exact same smile I didn't care. It was directed at me now and I was under the spell of it. Of him. I wonder if Sarah had felt the same way when it was directed at her. He kept my eyes and my hand as he took a bite. How the hell could he make taking a bite of a piece of cake look sexy? But he did, and it was sexy. I smiled and took a bite of my piece and then felt subconscious about it. Trevor was watching me eat my half of the cake as he ate his own half. He still made it look sexy while I felt awkward. Once we'd finished our pieces I looked at his face.
"You got a little something... " I said and pointed a little above my top lip. He licked his thumb and rubbed at the spot where I'd pointed to.
"Better?" he asked. I shook my head. "Then please, go ahead." He continued.
"And what am I supposed to 'go ahead' with?" I asked him.
"Getting it off my face." he said. Wow this just got awkward real fast.
"And how am I supposed to do that?" I asked.
"Like this." He said and brought my hand back to his lips where he got my thumb and licked it. "Now rub." He continued. I hesitated before I rubbed his lip. It was a little weird but I did it anyway. Yeah, just a little because you just do this all the time to a hot guy that your best friend had bagsed!
"There. All done." I said and wiped my thumb on the front of his white shirt. He looked down at it then up at me.
"Thanks and why'd you do that?" he asked.
"You're welcome and I did it because I didn't want to wipe it on my shirt, obviously." I answered. He kept smiling while he chuckled.
"Ok, fair enough." He said. Someone coughed and it wasn't me or Trevor. Sonny. Crap. I forgot about her, again. Why did I keep doing that? When I was with Daniel or Trevor, it just happened. I forgot about everything and everyone around me, it was like we were in our own little world. It was like they dragged me into their world and that was the only one there was. I glanced at her apologetically. The death stare was back again. Again I shrugged. The bell rung and she got up pretty fast, heading toward the building. I went to get up but Trevor's head was still in my lap which made it hard.
"Just let her go. She'll be fine, she'll forgive you." He said in an 'I-Don't-Really-Care' voice.
"Sonny! I'll call you later, ok? We'll talk about my party later, ok?" I called. She looked over her shoulder, nodded sharply and kept walking. Damn it! I'd have to do something really big to make this up to her. I'd done things like this before, according to her, anyway. She was my best friend but she was a Drama Queen. She over reacted to the smallest thing. Once she reacted over a movie, I wanted to see one see didn't want to see and I didn't want to see her choice so she stormed off. She blamed me for the fight so I had to make it right. It took me three days to earn back her forgiveness and it took me three days because I didn't know how to until I remembered. Sonny loved chocolate cake so I made some and offered her some. She took the offering gratefully. We made up. If she blamed me for anything else that I'd done, I'd make her chocolate cake. But this time was different- I'd, according to her, stolen her crush and rubbed it in her face. How did I know she thought that? We were like sisters and the way she looked at me gave it away. I'd have to do something extremely special and I knew exactly what to do. She loved skittles, just like me, and chocolate cake; combine them and bingo, instant best friends again. I'd have to do it after school today to make sure we don't fight for days, like last time. Trevor sighed and stood up.
"Come on, let's go to Maths!" he said with fake enthusiasm. I frowned and he held out his hand. I took it and was brought to my feet. I reached back down and grabbed my bag.
