Oblivious to how long he'd been there- Ron sighed and moved towards the door. People would be wondering where he was, and he had to leave sometime. He left the room, temporarily blinded by the excess of golden light that filled the corridor.
Trying to fix his tear-stained face, he swung open the portrait to the common room and spotted Hermione reading by the fire. He sighed and sat down next to her.
She looked up and a sympathetic expression fell on her face. Apparently Ron hadn't succeeded in hiding his emotions. "He didn't turn up, did he?" Hermione prompted.
Ron replied, "No- he turned up."
"Then why do look like you've been crying?" Hermione investigated.
"He said that we don't work,"Ron stammered, "and that I should get over him."
Hermione questioned, "What did you do?"
"I said I would, I told him I'd move on." Ron answered.
Hermione furthered: "But do you actually want to?"
"I have to." Ron responded, "if this is what it takes for Blaise to be happy, I'll do it."
"Ok." Sighed Hermione. They both instinctively stood up; Hermione gave Ron a hug and walked away.Ron decided to head to his own dorm room, it wasn't really late but the day's events had left him exhausted- who knows, he might feel better in the morning.
He opened the door to the dorm room and landed on his bed with a thud. To be honest Ron didn't really know what to do at this point. How do you stop loving someone? It's not like he'd actually be able to sleep with the question on his mind.
Ron had no clue how long he'd been sitting there, lost in his own thoughts, but when Harry had joined him in the dorm the sky had darkened to a coal black rather than the earlier deep cerulean.
"Hey Ron, I haven't seen you all day (except for lessons)." Harry announced.
Ron replied half-heartedly,"-Yeah," "Something wrong?" Harry asked.
"No," Ron hesitated, "you wouldn't understand." Harry could still be convinced about this deatheater thing and he didn't fancy him ranting into his ear about Malfoy right now. (He suspected the subject of Blaise would bring it up)."I'll manage, come on- tell me." Harry persuaded. Maybe he could tell Harry enough without giving everything away.
"I like someone- and they like me back. But they told me that we can't be together and that I should move on." Ron explained, "but I don't know how."
"Wow- that's a lot. Have you told Hermione?" He asked.
Ron responded, "Yeah, she just keeps saying I need time. But I don't want time, I want to do something now, so I can stop feeling so- lost."
"Well if you need a distraction- We're going to Hogsmede in a few days." Harry suggested, "Maybe that'd help."
"Yeah, I think it would, thanks mate." Ron decided. He added, "Oh and- if you don't mind me asking: who is she?"
"O-oh um, i-" Ron stuttered.
"Relax, you don't have to tell me, I was only messing with you." Harry assured, "You would've told me sooner if you wanted me to know." Ron laughed awkwardly; that was way too close. "Yeah." He stated. He'd tell Harry eventually- just not yet.
