(I'm sorry guys, this is going to be the last chapter. It took me so long to update because I didn't know how to end it right. It's long though. Thanks for all the support.:)
Ron had spent the last few days stressed over the date. Obviously- Blaise had caught on and reassured him with the expected talk about how it didn't matter where they went, he would have fun if he was with Ron. You would assume that Ron would already know this, since they recently got lost in the woods and stayed there for at least four hours, but what could he say- he was oblivious.
After a while, him and Blaise decided together that they would go to an icecream parlour and walk through the attached botanical gardens. Although neither of them wanted to admit it- they both liked the flowers. Neither had mentioned anything about them from the cafe, but anyone could tell they liked the vibrant colours and sweet smells there. Who wouldn't?
....
Standing at the counter of the shop was Ron. Blaise had rushed off into the shop to look at the different flavours, leaving Ron with the waiter, who was trying to guide them to a table. Honestly, Ron felt a little bad for the poor guy. Whenever he tried to recite the welcome script he'd been trained to say, he'd be interrupted by Blaise calling out to Ron versions of: "They have bubblegum flavoured icecream!" Followed by, "Ron, what's bubblegum?"
It was true that he only knew bubblegum because Hermione gave a him a piece once, but he couldn't help finding it entertaining, watching Blaise discover the muggle world. Unlike his- Blaise's friend group was solely pureblood.
Ron hurried up and choose a table, before the waiter could get anymore confused at how a late teen, had no idea what bubblegum was.
"Come on Blaise, they have a menu with all the flavours on the table." He called.
"There's more flavours?" Blaise asked, walking over- trying the regain his composure.
Ron smiled: "Yeah they do, I know you're excited, it's too late to pretend you're not."
"Yeah ok, only if you stop acting like you know anything about muggles that's not from Hermione."
"Come on, lets choose our icecream and get out here, I think the waiter is concerned." Ron suggested, avoiding the prior accusation.Blaise screened his eyes down the menu which various pictures of icecream- along with the name. He decided: "I'm getting....mint choc chip."
"Really? That's what you're choosing?" Ron teased.
"I've never had icecream before, I choose the green one." Blaise admitted, "I like green ok."
"You've never had icecream before?" Ron enquired.
"I know what it is," He assured, "I just haven't tried it.... I know it's supposed to be cold."
Ron laughed, "You know it's cold. That's a surprise, I thought you were expecting it to be boiling hot." Sarcasm dripping off the words.
"It starts with ice- I'm not an idiot." Blaise defended.
Ron joked, "I suppose you also know it's creamy?"
"Just let me order my icecream in peace." Blaise announced, smiling.Ron began, "Well I'm ordering triple chocolate."
"That's barely any different than mine!" Blaise claimed.
"It is not!" Ron exclaimed.
"They both have chocolate, don't they?" He justified.
Ron insisted: "Yes- but they're still not the same."
"Ok, sure." Blaise replied with a smirk.Their icecreams arrived quickly- since they were some of the only people there. "Enjoy." The waiter stated, trying to get away from their table as soon as possible. They stood up and walked back through the glass doors, at the front of the shop.
Together, they walked down the path through the gardens, the first part was filled to the limit with Sunflowers. Sunflowers that stood so tall grown men had to crane their necks slightly to get the best view. It was best this way, since the height gave the uplifting effect of replicating the sun. As soon as Ron was under their gaze he felt an unnatural state of bliss fill his body, presumably drawn out by the sheer gold of the petals. The original sunlight filtered through said petals to create a pattern of yellow light on the floor and in the air. He could not walk past without gasping slightly.
Still they continued walking, arriving next at the bamboo. It grew tall and upright on either side of the path with an occasional piece sticking out, waving to passersby. This wasn't particularly eye catching, except the lines of light that were thrown across his face as they walked through.
There was a more open space next. What seemed like thousands of rose bushes decorated the side in their various different shades. Red, pink, white, yellow and more. This time the pair stopped to admire the view fully. "Wow, everything is so beautiful. It might just be this place, but I don't know. Today just seems....brighter than usual." Blaise stated.
"Yeah, you're right." Ron replied, thought to himself for a moment and grinned. "Hey Blaise?"
Blaise turned around to face the other: "Yeah?"
Without missing a beat, Ron replied, "Does this icecream smell weird to you?" And of course, Blaise fell for the trick. When he leant forward Ron knocked the icecream against the other's nose and backed away laughing uncontrollably."I can't believe you fell for that!" Ron exclaimed through the laughter.
"What was that for?" Blaise asked, who was still trying to understand what just happened.
"It's a thing people do, you know? Tell them to smell your icecream then do that." Ron explained, "Don't tell me it's just my family that did that."
"Well I'm going to get you back!" Blaise claimed, beginning to chase after Ron- both of them laughing at the situation.Ron stopped to catch his breath, and for a second he almost fell back into a rose bush. However Blaise had caught up and grabbed his arm- pulling Ron back upright. Blaise wrapped his arms around the other's neck and pecked him on the lips, before stating: "I win."
Ron didn't care about the people passing by that were side eyeing them to get out of the way. He didn't care about what had happened in the past. All he knew was that when he looked into Blaise's eyes just then he saw the future. A future that wasn't just what the mirror had shown him. It showed that, everything between and everything after. Throughout it- no matter what went wrong or what was happening, they were always together; that would always be more than enough.
