It started to get quite chilly. I fluffed my black coat up to protect myself against the icy wind that raged between and around the trees. I halted, perking my ears up. The smell of energon started to get closer, which meant I had to be close. To be honest, I don't have a plan. I just want Sideswipe free, and I want to leave with him.

I wasn't sure if it was a good thing I dumped Sunstreaker or not. Somewhere feeling guilty, I jumped over the creek and trotted between the trees, following my nose. Perhaps, he could have helped me freeing Sideswipe. I am just a... human. What can I possibly do?

I came to a stop as I looked over a large field. In the mountains was a cave. The smell came from there and was pretty strong now. Sideswipe had to be in there. I made my move! It's now or never and standing here only gave me more doubts. It's my first solo mission without back-up. If I mess up now, there's no way back and I am doomed.

I sprinted over to the entrance and checked my surroundings in the mean time. Slowly I sneaked inside and listened to every sound. I picked up Sideswipe's scent. In my excitement to see him again I nearly got caught. I ducked away in the corner of one lengte large halls, staying low.

This has to be an abounded Energon mine for sure. Did the Autobots know about this mine? It had too, how can Optimus not be aware of this. It's so big and I am sure they must have picked up an signal coming from this creepy place before.

The floor was shaking a bit as Starscream passed me without even noticing I am here. Thanks to my black coat and dark area. I quickly got up as he left, he came from where Sideswipe's scent was coming from. I quickened my pace in a trot.

Sideswipe was locked up and he had pulled his knees higher to his chassis and wrapped his arms around his legs. His forehead rested against his knees and Sideswipe doorwings were low. He hated it to be locked up, especially now. I announced myself with a snarl.

He perked his helm up and it took him two seconds to realize who I was. "Merope!" He lunged for the bars. "What are you doing here? Oh baby I am so sorry..." he whimpered. He transformed and activated his holoform. I changed back into my human form and grasped his arm. "Sideswipe... I love you..."
"I love you too..." he whispered back and kissed the back of my hand. "I'll get you out of here... then we can leave together... like we had planned..."

Sideswipe nodded and kissed my hand again before holding it against his cheek. "You're alone?" He asked. "I traveled with Sunstreaker... but our ways separated again..."
I looked up, "how do I get you out of here..." I asked, looking back at him. "I think it's sort of hard to do it on your own..." he trailed off. "How many are they?"

"The dreads, Barricade and Starscream... I believe Ravage is around as well... Please be careful..." he whispered. I rubbed his cheek softly, "I will... perhaps I can shut down the power unit..." I mumbled as I looked around. Sideswipe sighed, obviously worried. "I am so scared you'll get hurt... don't worry, please..." I pulled my hand back and changed back into my wolf form. "I have in all those years never seen you like this..."

I gazed at him. Not a big surprise, I don't like this form at all. It makes me a little insecure especially because Sideswipe is perfect in all kinds of ways and I am like this. I lowered my tail and folded my ears in my neck. For a moment we locked eyes before I left him alone again. With pain in my heart though. I wanted to be with him more then ever.

I had to watch out for ravage. He's obviously around and Sideswipe warned me for him. I took a turn, and stayed low to the ground as I heard footsteps. Heavy footsteps. Indicating one or most likely two cybertronians are heading my way. I was right, Crankcase and Hachet. The idiots hadn't even noticed me...

They passed me while my heart beat was crazy. Just the adrenaline that raged through my veins nearly made my heart stop. I have done so many missions and for none of them did I feel ever so nervous. Not even when I was looking for a nuclear bomb...

I continued and even though it was dark, I followed my nose and trusted my senses to lead me through these large empty Energon mines. I wasn't sure where their power unit is, it had to be here somewhere.

I ended up in a large room. Perhaps I can win enough time for Sides to escape. I lost all my hope as I looked around. There's no possible way I can mess with this. It's just all too big and heavy for me. I thought maybe there's something I can do, but these cables are so thick... I can't just bite or cut it with something.

I had to come up with something else. I turned around to leave and there was this explosion come from close to the entrance. I had no idea what had happened, but it couldn't be good. I sprinted, through the halls and had to make a slide stop as I spotted Sunstreaker. His optics red glowing while he smashed Barricade against the walls.

I wasn't sure if I should be happy or not. The fact is, leaving with Sideswipe will be hard now. He won't allow us to run away. Not after what I told him. He glanced at me, "pathetic!" He snapped and marched over to where Sideswipe was kept.

The moment I wanted to follow, Ravage jumped on my back. I felt his metal claws dig into my flesh. I let out a scream and turned around, trying to shake him off. He's bigger and heavier then I am, with a loud groan, I landed on the floor. His claws still pierced through my flesh.

He jumped aside, ready to bite me, but I was a little bit quicker and bit in his face, grabbing a wire and ripped it out. He uttered a scream and hit me with his claw, making a deep ugly wound in my chest. The pain was horrible and I jumped aside, hitting the wall.

A piece of flesh was hanging down as if someone had been pulling on it, leaving a deep gap. I found the strength and courage to flee...
