Chapter 1: silvery pearl

Merope's pov
I stalked into the base after a long journey from Afganistan, I was tired and a little bit annoyed, Mearing kept complaining and I wished she could shut up for like five minutes. I rubbed my face as I entered the main hanger, it was busy, people were walking around and talking, to loud if you asked me. The only reason I was here was to find my silvery pearl, sideswipe, damn I missed that mech, Sunstreaker probably didn't mind, now he had sideswipe all for himself.

I stopped walking and looked around, none of the Autobots were here at the moment, probably out for a mission or what. "Merope! Good to have you back!" I turned around to face Lennox. "Major!" I said giving a small nod. He smiled at me "So... how did it go?" he asked as we started to walk again. "Dreadfull...like always," I sighed. He hummed "I did where I came for... but I am sick of leaving each month! Mearing thinks I am a weapon! She doesn't understand anything!" I sulked.

"We someone else who's grumpy last few weeks!" he grunted. I glanced at him "Let me guess... Sideswipe!" I sighed. "Yup... he's angry cause Mearing sends you away again!" he sighed. "Now we are talking about hi... where is my silvery pearl?" I asked. "He's on a mission with the others... I expect them to be back any moment..." he said. I smiled "I really missed him... he always knows how to cheer me up and help me through hard times... there were times I longed for him... It's so long since I heard his voice," I said.

"he was really worried... you two have a strong bond! you're lucky with that!" he said. I smiled at his words. "I hope Sideswipe comes with me next time! I won't survive another month without him!" I complained. "Well... I don't mind and you know Optimus will approve it too... but Sunstreaker?!" I said. I sighed "Yeah... he still doesn't like me... but hey! he doesn't try to kill me anymore... so that's an improvement right?!" I snickered.

Lennox snorted and we both stopped as Reynolds caught up with us "The Autobots just arrived," he informed him. "Thank you, Reynolds!" he said. "Oh... and Sideswipe is in the brig!" he said. I frowned "Why?!" I asked, crossing my arms. "Your silvery pearl came up with his own plan and it almost killed the other twins and Jazz," he said hoarsely.

"Seriously! Do something with that mech!" he said briefly before he walked away. "Is it seriously that bad?" I asked. Lennox nodded "Yeah...unfortunately!" he sighed. We stalked over to the Autobot hanger, Ironhide was still pissed as far I could see. "Signora! You're back!" Dino said smiling at me. "Sì... good to see you again, Dino!" I said. He smiled and gave a nod "Merope!? How are you doing?!" Jazz chirped as they surrounded me.

Sideswipe had saved me two years back from scientists and Autobots kind of adopted me, I hadn't anyone else and besides that, my DNA was mixed with not only animal DNA but also with Energon what made me very special, I was a hybrid and Ratchet had told me I could even survive on their planet, I wasn't gonna grow older, and I was stronger and faster.

"Well... the journey back was dreadful, just like the past few months... but I am still alive so I think I am doing good!" I sighed. "I highly disagree with Mearning! You're too young to fight in wars!" Ironhide grunted. "yeah... I don't have much choice huh!" I sighed. "I'll talk to Mearning! It's not good for you to fight so much!" Optimus said. I smiled "Thanks... Uhm... I heard about what happened with Sideswipe... but can I see him?!" I asked.

"He didn't deserve it! The past few months were...dreadfull! Even Sunstreaker was sick of him!" Ironhide growled, getting angry again. "I know...but maybe he will be calmer if he sees me!" I suggested, looking at the black transformer. "You can visit him... his holoform is locked up in room seven," Optimus said. "You lock his holoform up?!" I asked surprised.

"He escaped last time," Dino grunted. I chuckled "Alright..." after I said my goodbye, I stalked over towards the said room and unlocked it. I smiled as I saw Sideswipe sitting on an office chair, his feet on the table while he was throwing a small ball in the air and caught it. "Oh, sides... what am I gonna do with you?!" I sighed. He instantly jolted up, forgetting about the ball.

"Merope!" he cheered, hugging me tightly. I buried my face in his chest and hold his arms tightly. I felt tears run down my face "Why are you crying?! are you hurt?" he asked as he sat down again and pulled me on his lap. "No... I am just happy to see you! I missed you so much!" I said. Sideswipe smiled and wiped the tears off my face. "You're too beautiful to cry!" he said.

I smiled and hugged him again "I am gone for like a month and you already know how to make a mess! Sideswipe for real! Why can't you just behave?!" I said as I hold his face and thumbed his cheek. He smiled "Sweetie... I am bored! and I really missed you!" he sighed. "Please stay over tonight!" I said. He smiled "If I get out of this hell?!" he scoffed. "Well anyway! Now you're finally back! I wanna do a lot of things!" he grinned. "I would love too... but I'm exhausted from my journey! I really want to get some sleep first!" I said as I snuggled into him. He sighed and looked disappointed, but I had to wait a month! I have so many things planned! And I'm sure Mearing is gonna sent you away again!" He complained.

"I actually wanted to take you next time..." I said sleepily. "A-are you kidding me?!" He asked. "You don't have too! I just feel safer with you around and you've more battle instincts... you don't have to do!" I muttered softly. "I'm coming for sure! It's just... you know sunny is never gonna approve it!" He said unhappily.

"It doesn't have too, sides..." I whispered, dozing off more and more. "You're gonna fall asleep if I keep rubbing your back huh!" He grinned. "Hmm..." was my only response before I fell asleep.

Sideswipe's pov
I looked at my friend, my best friend. She was in a deep sleep curled up in my lap. I hated it to see her leave and I was still fighting for her, I didn't want her to risk her life, she had been through a lot and deserved some relaxation, no matter what she was.

I looked up when Prim and hide walked in, I hold her tighter in response, I didn't want them to take her I just got her back. "She missed you huh!" Ironhide said mockingly. "I missed her too! She means everything to me!" I snapped. "I don't think you're in the position to snap!" Prime said as he closed the door behind him.

"Look... I made a mistake and I'm sorry! I got off guard!" I muttered. "Why?" Ironhide asked with a frown, it was odd for me, it never happened before. I shrugged my shoulders while looking at the femme in my arms.

"Sideswipe!" I looked at Optimus "what got you off guard!?" He asked sternly, crossing arms. "Just a thought popped up in my head... and I-... I dunno it's just scared me I guess!" I grumbled. "Say it!" Ironhide demanded. "Mearing is sending her every time and I'm scared she won't come back on day! I can't lose her and when we were in battle she popped up in my head and I-... just for a moment I had that fear that she was dead cause I hadn't heard from her..." I said without looking.

"It terrified me so much I forgot about everything and when my senses came back... I saw what happened and I panicked... I tried to fix it and instead I brought them in danger! Look... I'm sorry but this time it wasn't a prank! I got scared..." I said and noticed I got emotional. I quickly looked down to hide my sadness and embarrassment, I didn't want them to know how I really felt, I always had that fear she wouldn't come back anymore.

"I know you're scared of that, Sideswipe!" Prime said as he crouched down in front of me. "Merope is a strong femme! She will be fine! I'll try to make sure Mearing won't send her again... but I've not much to say what will happen to her," Optimus said.

I looked at him "one day she won't come back anymore and  the thought is killing me! I can't protect her! She's young and she doesn't have enough experience! I just don't get it why they are doing this to her! She's 17!" I said. "I talked about it with sunny last day... he doesn't like her but even he disagrees with Mearing," I said.

"Take a day off tomorrow..." Optimus told me. "She needs you and you need her... in the meantime, I'll try to talk to Mearing...but I can't promise anything!" He told me. I nodded and stood up, holding Merope in my arms. "At least she came back now!" I whispered. Optimus patted my shoulder before I left the room.

I carefully laid her in bed in the room Lennox gave her when she came to the base. I gently removed her shoes and covered her with the blanket. She weakly opened her eyes and grasped my wrist as I stood up. "Don't leave! I don't wanna have nightmares again!" She whispered. I smiled and kicked my shoes out before I joined her and curled up against her.

Just like always he cuddled into each other and pulled the blanket higher up. We laid on our sides, facing each other while she had wrapped her leg over mine and smiled, her arm around my body. She buried her face in my chest and was asleep real quick. "Just wait until you're not tired anymore!" I whispered softly with a big smile on my face.
