chapter 22: Sideswipe

The next morning, I carried the femme back to my alt-mode and drove off. I was worried cause she was barely awake and she was pale. Frenzy was sitting in her lap again, snuggled into her.

I drove fast over the road, I had to get back to Washington. After hours of driving, I reached Washington DC and parked somewhere. I took her out of my alt-mode and ordered frenzy to make the way clear.

I stalked over to the back gate of N.E.S.T and saw frenzy had knocked the soldiers out and opened the gate for me. I sneaked inside and followed Frenzy, I trusted him to help me through this. He better did though, otherwise I had a huge problem.

I walked after him through the empty halls and saw Frenzy opening a door. I frowned as he led me in and pointed at the N.E.S.T uniforms.

Carefully I laid her down and pulled one on before I picked her up again and followed him. "Frenzy! Try to hide! They won't recognize me now!" I said. Frenzy left but I knew he was close to me.

I stalked through the halls, I had no idea where the medbay was. I bit my lip and looked around, why is this base so fragging big!

I walked into a Radom direction and saw a sign with Medbay. Quickly walked over to it and stalked into a room, nobody was here. I carefully laid her down, frenzy sneaked next to me. "Keep an eye on her! I'll go find Ratchet and hope I still live after this!" I grunted before I rushed away.

"I'm looking for Ratchet!" I said, asking a radon human soldier. I hated humans, but if I wanted to save Merope I had to ask those organics. "No! Sideswipe! Where is Sideswipe!" I asked.

The soldier looked at me with a frown "training room!" He said. I sprinted over to the training room, he was alone thank Primus. I made my last sprint and stopped in front of him, Sideswipe gave me a confused look, and this was so against my nature.

"Don't ask questions and trust me!" I said before I grabbed his arm and dragged him behind me. "Barricade!" He hissed, taking a battle stance. "If you wanna safe Merope I suggest you listen! She's dying!" I sneered. Sideswipe froze "Merope! Where is she!?" He whispered. I rolled my eyes "Frenzy is guarding her! We need to find Ratchet and fast!" I said.

He nodded and we both sprinted through the halls "how did you find her!?" He squeaked. "Frenzy found her! She saved my life from Starscream and a couple of months ago... that's why I wanted to give it a shot! I tried to stop the bleeding and lower her fever... but I realized I couldn't help her! That's why I came to the base!" I grunted.

"Your brother attacked her!" I added on. Sideswipe looked frantically at me, eyes red. "I asked her who attacked her... I thought the Decepticons got her... but it's your brother! She's not able to talk... her throat is torn open!" I said.

Sideswipe started to get emotional and scared, I could smell it. We entered the Autobot hanger and I felt really uncomfortable. "We need to talk to Prime! He won't kill you and Sunstreaker isn't here either! Trust me!" He stated.

I followed him with hesitation "Prime!" He shouted. The mech turned around. Ironhide has a frown as he looked at me "who's that, Sideswipe?" He sighed. "Barricade!" He said.

"Prime..." I grunted. All the Autobots looked at me, taking a battle stance. Optimus narrowed his optics at me and I forced myself to stay calm. "I'm here to bring Merope back! Frenzy found her in the river... she was barely alive, we stabilized her... but she's in a bad shape!" I said.

Ratchet approached me "where is she!?" "The medbay, frenzy is guarding her!" I said. The medic stormed off just like Sideswipe. "She saved my life... that's why I brought her back and took this risk! I'm not here to fight!" I said raising my hands. Optimus transformed and activated his holoform.

"Thank you for saving her life, Barricade!" He said firmly. "I tried to keep her alive! I'm not a medic!" I hoarsely grunted. "Still... thank you!" He said. I gave a nod "I'm gonna leave... if you allow me!" I said. "If you want you can stay for a little while!" He said. I bit my lip and shook my head "Sunstreaker is gonna kill me... I only came to deliver, Merope..." I said.

"What if he tells Megatron or Starscream something!" Dino sneered. "I don't follow them anymore... they are looking for me too!" I replied while snapping and glaring at the spy. "Anyway... I'm gonna call Frenzy back, and leave, hopefully without a fight! I'm not here to fight!" I said while raising my hands.

Optimus gave a nod "thank you, barricade! We will not forget what you did for us!" He stated. I gave a nod and walked away.

Sideswipe's pov
I ran into the medbay and shrieked. Not because frenzy was curled up against her, but because she looked terrible. "Merope!" I squeaked running over to her. "Oh, Merope!" I whimpered the whole frenzy sat up straight.

"Thank you for taking care of her!" I said, looking at the small spy. He simply shrugged his shoulders and brushed some hair out of her face before brushing his face against her cheek and got up, leaving.

Ratchet came in as well and pushed me aside, removing the bandages around her throat. It was clearly someone had cut her throat open, but Sunstreaker wouldn't hurt her, why would he! Fear entered my body, what if he figured it out... what if he spied on me and saw me fragging Merope...

If it was true... and Sunstreaker had seen me... then it would mean I couldn't have a normal conversation with him. He would be enraged and try it again. I felt my world collapse. My best friend was almost killed by my own twin brother only because I fragged her.

"You fragged her didn't you!" Ratchet suddenly said making me blush a little. "Yeah... well... it was innocently, we had a swim and I couldn't stop myself from being... excited... and she's everything for me..." I trailed of. "I am not judging you... I already wondered when you would claim her... I expected you to do it sooner!" He replied without looking.

"No! My brother won't allow a relationship with her! We discussed this and we wanted to be friends, nothing more even we both liked it a lot!" I sighed while blushing madly. "Don't be ashamed! She's your mate... rather you like it or not! Sunstreaker has to love her too, otherwise, you wouldn't fall in love with her... but maybe he's jealous," he said.

"He never wanted to talk to her! He's always rude and mean against her!" I scoffed. "He loves her! He's jealous!" Ratchet grunted before pushing me away. I watched he stabilized her, but I couldn't leave her side...
