chapter 6: worry

Sideswipe's pov
I stared at the black screen and sighed, I got up and left the room, stalking around the base, I hoped she would contact me later, I really wanted to talk to her. Soon enough, minutes became hours, and I never heard from her again, I waited and waited, but there was simply nothing. "Lennox?! I haven't heard from Merope?! is something wrong?!" I asked. He looked at me and shook his head "Not that I know... I am sure she will contact you maybe she's busy or sent for a mission!" he suggested.

"I know... but I talked to her a few hours ago and now I haven't heard from her anymore! I am worried something is wrong!" I admitted. "I am sure she's fine, Sideswipe!" he told me. I nodded slightly and kept waiting, but nothing happened, I even fell in a recharge.

When I woke up, it was midnight, and I didn't expect her to call me again, so I hobbled over to the room we practically shared and snuggled in the blanket before I fell asleep. The next morning, I woke up pretty late. I slowly did my daily routine before I headed to the cafeteria. It went completely silent when I entered, all the soldiers looked at me and some looked away after a while. "What's wrong?!" I asked confused. Looking in the reflection of the window to see if something was wrong.

"Don't you know?" Reynolds asked. I frowned "Know what?!" I asked looking around. "Did something happen?!" Reyolds stepped back "Maybe... you should talk to Lennox or Optimus," he suggested. I frowned "What's going on?! What did I miss?!" I asked. "Go to Optimus!" Reynolds repeated quietly. My holoform disappeared and I quickly transformed.

"Prime! What's going on?! Reyolds said I had to talk to you!? What happened?!" I asked alarmed. "Decepticons?!" I added on. "No... last day... The base in Afghanistan was attacked, five hours ago we got a message," Optimus began. Fear instantly returned, fear for my brother and Merope. "Please tell me they are okay?!" I whispered. "We don't know... there's no radio contact!" he said. I had to hold on to something and focussed on the bond, but I couldn't feel him, Sunstreaker had blocked his side of the bond.

"If we hear something I tell you!" Optimus said. "But you don't think she's dead right?!" I whispered with fear in my voice. "We have no idea what's going on right now... we don't know if there are survivors, your twin his still alive... but we don't know anything about Merope!" Optimus sighed.

"Let me take a plane! I need to get there as soon as possible!" I said. "That won't help anything! You need to fly for more than seven hours... you won't be on time!" Optimus said. "I can't let her down! I need to get to her! I need to protect her cause my brother won't protect her!" I pleaded almost desperately. "Sideswipe! I know it's hard but we need to wait! There's nothing we can do right other than wait!" Optimus said. I knew he was right, but this explained why she didn't call me back.

I transformed and sat down on my hood, holding her necklace in my hands, she promised she would come back, she told me she comes back! the waiting was killing me but after a few hours, Lennox walked in and rubbed his face. He stalked over to me and sighed "Sunstreaker is coming back to the base!" he said. "What about Merope! please tell me she's okay!" I told him. "We don't know who the survivors are... it's really chaotic and radio contact is almost impossible, I only know Sunstreaker is coming back to the base he will arrive around midnight..." he informed me.

"There must be something you know! Please! I need to know if she's alive!" I pleaded to him. "I don't know Sideswipe! I honestly don't know," he said before he walked away. I was so angry right now, as I saw Mearing and Galloway I stormed over to them. "I told you she's too young! And see what happened now!" I hissed angrily, shaking from anger. "I have protected her! I saved her! I have the right to decide what will happen to her! If she didn't meet me she would have died a long time ago! I was there for her when no one else did! I made sure she started to trust again... that she learned how to deal with her fear and other people!" I shouted, pacing around.

"You shouldn't send her to a battlefield! She's supposed to be with me!! To give her a second chance... giving her a life she deserved! Sure she's an asset for the army! But to send to a battlefield all on her own with my brother who doesn't even like humans!?" I hissed furiously. "How can you this! You both know she's too young for this!" I screamed. "If she returns to the base I won't let you near her! I will not allow you to send her away again! I am the one who's taking care of her! Cause you all see her as your pet! Do you really think you can use her for this kind of shit while she isn't experienced?!"I screamed again.

Ironhide walked over to me "Easy, sideswipe..." he said, laying his hand on my shoulder. "If she dies then it's all because of you! My brother was right! Humans are useless and stupid! Don't think I will protect any of you!" I screamed before I stormed off.

I made my way over to the training room, beating a sack before Mirage and Jazz walked in. "Stop it Sides... beating things won't get her back!" Jazz said as he approached. "WHY!! Why did they have to send her away! Why can't she just be with me and live a normal life!" I shouted, before slamming the sack again. "I don't know..." Jazz said softly. "She's strong, Sideswipe... I know she survived this!" Dino said quietly.

"How do you know! That you're a spy doesn't mean you know everything! My stupid brother had cut her arms cause she accidentally scratched his paint job! Primus knows what else he did to her! But all I knew was that she was upset! Why is everyone hurting her! Why can't I just hold her in my arms?!" I screamed while I whispered the last part. "We know she's important for you, Sideswipe! we are just as angry as you are! You know we see her as a family member!" Jazz said.

"I know waiting is frustrating Sideswipe... but if she doesn't come to the base... I promise I'll help you find her!" Dino told me firmly. I gave a small nod "Thank you, Mirage!" I mumbled. Jazz grabbed my hands "Please stop hurting yourself! It won't get her back sooner!" Jazz said while looking at my bruised hands. I nodded and sucked in a breath while all kinds of scenes popped up in my head.

'Please let her be okay' I begged mentally, hoping someone would hear my cry for help.

waiting was killing me, but shortly after midnight, my twin rolled into the base, his paint job was scratched and he had several dents. Ironhide stepped next to Ratchet. When Sunstreaker transformed, Optimus had to grab him before he could fall. I quickly rushed over to him "Sunny?! what happened" I whispered as I guided him onto the ground.

"Blackout...scornopok..." he whispered. I gasped and looked around, begging my fellow Autobots to do something. "Is Merope okay?! Did you protect her?!" I whispered. Sunstreaker locked his optics with me "I am sorry, Sides...it was one big chaos and Blackout attacked me... scornopok injured her... when I returned she laid motionless on the ground... blood surrounded her... I had no time... I am sorry!" he mumbled.

I had a lump in my throat and was only able to nod "I need to help him!" Ratchet told me while placing his servo on my shoulder. I let go of my brother after I laid his helm on the ground and got up. Ironhide came up next to me "Are you okay?!" he asked. "No... I am not okay! They murdered her! Mearing and Galloway murdered her! This is all their fault! They murdered her!" I screamed. I felt my knees getting weaker and last thing I knew was Ironhide catching me before my helm hit the ground...
