Chapter 21: Back to DC

The night was cold, especially without Sideswipe. Barricade was still at my side, trying to control the fever. "Merope! I can't do this! I tried to save you... but I'm not a medic!" He sighed as he stepped back.

I looked at him with watery eyes, I just wanted to go back to Sideswipe. "S...ide...swi...pe," I cracked, talking was painful for me, so I hoped he understood me.

"I'm not suicidal! I'm not gonna risk my life for you!" He grunted. I felt more tears run down my face while barricade kept staring at me. He finally stepped closer to the dumpster and wiped the tears away.

"Fine! Stop crying it hurts my spark," He grumbled. A weak smile formed on my lips as I grasped his hand and squeezed slightly. "Yeah yeah! Stop thanking me!" He muttered before he walked away.

"Watch her!" Barricade ordered. Frenzy made a happy noise and jumped on the dumpster. He sat down next to me, staring at me.

Barricade's pov

I transformed and walked around, considering my options. She's too weak to move, she wouldn't survive it, I would have to travel and make stops everywhere, but that makes me a huge target for everyone.

I groaned I had to bring her back. Sideswipe was probably going to sick his psycho twin brother on me if I were to call him, so that's a no go. There was no other option than traveling to Washington DC by myself.

I stalked back towards the dumpster, Frenzy was playing with her hair. "Merope! I'll bring you back to DC, Ratchet is the only one who can help you," I sighed. She gave a smile while tears built in her eyes.

I scooped her up and transformed around her, opening the door for frenzy. I drove off and checked on her once in a while. I was so stupid to bring her back, I should've killed her when I first spotted her.

The ride was silent like usual. Frenzy made sure to be on the look out for any Decepticons or Autobots. Merope turned her head towards me, "Don't talk! You're too weak and I don't know how I get you in the base!" I snapped.

Merope closed her mouth again and looked at frenzy who played with her hair. "Stop that Frenzy!" I warned. "Soft!" was his reply. To my surprise, I saw Merope was amused with him. She let him touch her hair and even some parts of her exposed skin. "You know he's still a Decepticon right!" I grunted while glaring at her. She gave a small nod and shrugged her shoulders.

"Did Sunstreaker attack you cause he's jealous?" I asked. She raised a brow "I mean... you did frag with Sideswipe... maybe he's angry cause he can't have you! Or don't you think Sideswipe's not the only mech who thinks you're attractive!?" I scoffed. She blushed at my words, which was adorable.

"Precisely!" I muttered. I looked at her again and shook her head "H...at..e!" She cracked. "Humans say... you can't hate if you never loved!" I said. She huffed while a smile formed on her lips. I had to smirk a little before I looked back at her with a poker face, but seeing her smile made me smile too.

"You're making me soft!" I grunted, earning a muffled giggle from her. I rolled my eyes and sped up on the highway. I noticed she had fallen asleep, but she kept whimpering and moving, probably because of the fever.

Frenzy touched before cocking his helm to the side and looking at me. "It's because of the fever," I said while looking at her. Within three hours, I reached my first stop. I didn't want to travel any further cause, Merope was getting weaker.

Frenzy sat on her lap in a straddling position, he kept watching her for at least two hours after she fell asleep. "Frenzy! Give her some space! I don't want her to get a heart attack if she wakes up!" I told him. He scowled under his breath but sat back a little.

I rolled my eyes and tried to push him away, but he slapped my hand away and glared at me. "Fine! but don't come closer!" I snapped. Frenzy turned his attention back to the femme and pocked her softly. She slowly opened her eyes and I saw the shock in her eyes, she even jolted a little bit calmed down as frenzy leaned against her, resting his head against her chest.

She looked at me with a raised brow "Don't look at me! Be happy we like you and are willing to bring you back... alive!" I grunted. I saw she wrapped her arms around him in a hugging manner and seemed to calm her down a little. I hopped out and bought some food and water.

"I can make it back to the base... by the end of the night, we should be in Washington DC. But you're too weak!" I said as I hopped in again. She looked at me and sighed "I am gonna make a stop for the night and see if I can do something about your injuries, but your systems are badly damaged," I told her before I drove off towards a motel.

I carried her towards the motel and laid her upon the bed "you need Ratchet," I sighed as I unwrapped her wounds, they were still bleeding and looked painful. Sunstreaker had done his best to kill her and it surprised me she survived and I thought Autobots didn't kill humans. She reached for a notebook on the nightstand so I gave it to her.

Sunstreaker will try again... I am too weak to fight him...

I frowned as she showed me and sighed deeply "yeah... well if he loves you he won't do it again... maybe he regrets what he did! Don't forget Sideswipe is his twin brother! They share the same femme... if Sideswipe truly loves you... then Sunstreaker loves you too... Like I said... maybe he's jealous!" I said simply.

She gave a small nod while frenzy covered the wound again and curled up against her, she looked at her but was barely able to react on him, though, I saw she didn't mind much. "Try to recharge... frenzy will stay and I will guard you," I sighed as I got up and sat down on the sofa in the corner of the room.

Within seconds she was in recharge, frenzy looked at me with a worried expression. "I know... she's dying... but I can't help her! We need to reach Ratchet!" I sighed before I got up and stalked over to the window. "I don't know if she will survive another day, Frenzy!" I said before I turned around. I stared in his blue eyes and sighed "We can only hope she will survive this night, tomorrow we will continue our journey, but whatever happens... I think Sideswipe deserves to see her, dead or alive!" I said as I sat down.

"You care about Autobots?"

Frenzy cocked his head to the side "We don't like how Starscream treats his fellow Decepticons either... we are Decepticons... but we don't have to be as cold-hearted as Starscream and Megatron! We have seen enough death... let's try to do something good for once in our lives!" I grumbled. Frenzy stared at me before he nodded and laid his helm back on her shoulder. Hopefully, she will survive the night...
