Chapter 3: ready to go

Sunstreaker's holoform^
Sideswipe was curled up against me when I woke up, I could almost sense his worry and it made me sad. I turned around to face him and brought my leg over his hip to keep him close. I loved this position, we laid often like this and Sideswipe enjoyed my company a lot.

"This could be our last time together!" He whispered. "Don't think like that Sideswipe! My mother used to say... don't think about what can happen... if it happens we will solve that problem then... right now you need to think positive and stay positive!" I told him. He smiled weakly and kissed my cheek.

"Do you ever think about her?" He asked suddenly. "Sometimes yes..." I replied. "You never tried to visit her... why?!" He asked. "I'm scared she will reject me and hate me...I can't handle that and all I need is you!" I told him simply. He smiled and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Are you nervous to go out with my twin?"

"To be honest... yes... I mean I don't know him very well! I've trust in him even he doesn't like me," I replied with a sigh. "He does have a lot of experience just like you... do that makes me feel safe I guess," I sighed.

"Thank you for trusting Sunny!" He said. I smiled warmly "I need to get up!" I said. I saw he had a lump in throat so he only nodded and let me go. "I had one day... I got one day!" He whispered. I turned around seeing his watery eyes.

The way he looked at me broke my heart "I'm so sorry sides! I really tried my best... they just... don't listen to me! I'm their property and I've to listen to them!" I said sadly. "You're not an animal they can buy like that!" He snorted angrily before he got up.

I bit my bottom lip and removed the necklace around my neck, it was a small golden necklace, with glass in the middle, and small diamonds what former a heart. "Keep it until I'll return! Whenever you feel lonely you have something of me!" I said handing it over to him.

Sideswipe knee how much this necklace meant for me, my father had given it to me during our last Christmas, he died cause of illness and this was the last thing I had of him, but Sideswipe took it and smiled at me. "Thank you!" He whispered. I gave a weak smiled before I headed to the bathroom to take a shower and put on my uniform.

Sideswipe sat upon my bed and gave a saddened smile as he saw me. "I've always admired your courage..." he said. I smiled "you know... whenever I'm scared... I think about you... you always know to cheer me up and make me happy!" I said softly.

He smiled while staring at me "do you remember that day... when it was cold and wet outside and I didn't want to go on a patrol?" He asked. I giggled and nodded "yeah I do... we were laying in my bed for like the whole day, watching TV and playing games while you told Ironhide you felt sick!" I said smiling.

We both walked over to the cafeteria and ate something but Sideswipe finished quickly. "I need to talk to sunny! I'll see you in a minute!" He stated before his holoform disappeared.

Sideswipe's pov
I stalked over to my brother, he was cleaning up his swords and looked up when he saw me, he didn't show any emotion, but I did feel the affection and love over the bond. Sunny never showed his love for me in public.

"Hey sunny," I said. He glared at me "stop calling me Sunny! You know I hate that nickname!" He snapped. "Yeah... please be careful!" I said. He huffed "it's not the first time!" He grunted.

"I know... I heard this is a dangerous mission... and I'm so scared something will happen to you or to... Merope!" I said with a lump in throat. Sunstreaker snapped his helm towards me.

"Are you seriously getting emotional cause your pet is going on a mission again?!" He sneered. I didn't reply and looked sadly at the ground. "Come on sides! You're better than this!" He scoffed icily.

"Sunstreaker! Merope means so much to me! I adore her madly and I would be devastated if she gets hurt or dies! So, please... I'm begging you to protect her!" I begged. He frowned "you never beg!" He snorted, enjoying the power he had right now. "Sunstreaker, please! Protect her! It's all I ask and I'll do everything for you! I'll do everything! I swear! But please keep her safe! Make sure she returns! I had only one day! That's what they gave us!" I whispered.

Sunstreaker sucked in a breath "Ugh! Why do you like that flashbag anyway, sides?! For real... why do you keep her as your pet?!" He scoffed. "She might have animal DNA but she's also a hybrid!" I remembered him. "Oh, should I care about her now she's a hybrid?!" He scoffed.

I wanted to scream in frustration and sadness, why didn't he just see how much she meant for me?! "Only this mission Sunstreaker! It's all I ask! You don't have to like her... but please keep her safe! I need her! Please sunstreaker please!" I begged to get in my knees while grabbing his servo.

"Sideswipe! Behave! Fine, I'll look after that unless pet of yours! But if it's my life or hers... I'll always choose my life above her! Get it?!" He snapped before pushing me away. I slowly got up and watched him disappear.

I transformed and activated my holoform catching up with Merope again. I hugged her and nuzzled in her neck, smelling her scent, I still wanted to scream and I felt I started to panic, what if she didn't come back anymore?!

She noticed and looked at me laying her hand on my cheek. "I promise I'll come back! No matter what I will always come back! No matter how long the distance! As long as you have hope!" She told me. I pressed my forehead against hers.

"If you come back I'll never let you go again!" I whispered. She smiled and grasped my shirt loosely in her hands. "I'm gonna miss you Sideswipe! Thank you for yesterday! I enjoyed that one day they gave me with you!" She whispered. Her eyes were watery and her eyes reflected how I felt.

Devastated.

She nuzzled in my neck one last time before she let go of me, I was still holding her hand. "Stay safe!" I whispered. She gave a small nod before she let go of my hand and walked off the platform towards my brother who was waiting impatiently. After a word with Lennox she looked at me, I know what she was thinking, she wanted to hide, bury her face in my chest and just enjoy my company in silence.

She hopped in the passenger side and closed the door before my twin drove off leaving me saddened behind. I grabbed the necklace she gave me this morning and looked at it. I had a lump in my throat, and I wasn't able to speak when Lennox asked if I was okay so I only nodded and turned around.

Just yesterday I was holding her in my arms, knowing she was safe and now everything was unsure, they sent her to the battlefield, the only place I wanted to protect her from. I returned to her room and laid down on her bed, smelling her scent in the pillow when I laid down.

I closed my eyes and relived the moment of this morning when she had wrapped her leg around my hip and hold me. The position we were always in, which gave us both a safe feeling.

I just couldn't brush off the feeling this was the last time I saw her...
