Chapter 23: waking up

I slowly opened my eyes and felt someone warm curled up against me. Not frenzy, he wasn't that soft. As my senses came back, I felt a wet spot in my neck and now realized who was curled up against me.

I softly touched Sideswipe's arm, making him look at me. His eyes were red and watery from crying. I brushed them away, I had never seen him so upset as now. It never really happened before, I knew Sideswipe had a lot of feelings which he didn't mind to show especially not if he was with me, but he never cried like this.

"Oh Merope! I'm so sorry!" He whimpered. I kissed his forehead and nuzzled in his hair. "It's not your fault!" I cracked, it still hurt when I spoke and I tried to be clear.

I wrapped my arm around him and hold him close to my body. We snuggled into each other and I closed my eyes again. Sideswipe was tired, I noticed he was fighting against sleep. I softly rubbed his head nuzzled in his cheek.

"Stop making me so sleepy!" He jawed. I hummed and kept rubbing and stroking him. "Merope..." he sulked as he was dozing off. I kissed his head and kept rubbing him until he fell asleep.

I nuzzled in his hair and closed my eyes again as I woke up again. Sideswipe was still in a very deep slumber. When he woke up, we locked eyes and he tightly started to hug me, some tears run down his face. "It's all my fault! I pushed you to have sex with me, and now this happened," he sobbed. I nuzzled in his hair "it's not your fault!" I said, making him look at me.

"Really! It isn't!" I assured him. "I just love you so much," he whispered. I pressed my forehead against his before he pulled away. "Love you too!" I whispered. He softly pressed his lips on mine, it was a very gentle and sweet kiss, we both liked it.

I felt a shiver run down my spine, and I pulled back. I stared at the door and saw Sunstreaker standing there. Sideswipe gasped as well and gave a sheepish smile towards his brother who said nothing. With a huff, he walked away "Damn it!" Sideswipe cursed and sprinted after his brother.

((Third-person))

"Sunstreaker? Wait up!"

The yellow warrior stopped walking and turned around, his icy blue orbs stared straight through Sideswipe's souls. "A-are you mad?" He asked. The yellow mech narrowed his eyes a little. "You have no idea," was his dangerous reply.

"Why did you try to kill her?"

"What makes you think I did it? Do you have proof?" He asked. Sideswipe looked back at him and shook his head. "Merope~..." Sunstreaker raised his hand to silence him. "Shut up, Sideswipe! I don't give a shit about that fleshbag! I don't wanna hear it either! But her life is in your hands!" He warned him before he walked away.

Sideswipe gulped and returned to the femme. He cuddled with her and sighed "he's angry, Merope," sideswipe said in a whisper. The femme sighed and nuzzled her nose with his. "Maybe we should take some... distance,"
Sideswipe snapped his eyes open "no!" He stated. Merope sighed and shook her head. "Sideswipe...: You know it's the best for both of us," she said. Sideswipe nuzzled in her neck again "I don't wanna lose you, Merope..." he whispered. "Then we have to take distance, you know I am fine now... I will recover," she said. Sideswipe sat on the edge of her medical bed.

"We beed to take distance, Sideswipe..."

"You're my best friend! I would be so devastated," he said. Merope sighed "I know... I know but I am not gone, I am still at the base," she said, flashing a weak smile. "I was just hoping... that we—" She cut him off as she pulled him in a tight bear hug, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. "You have always had a special place in my heart, you're so special to me, you have no idea Sideswipe,"

He sighed, kissing the crook of her neck. "Am I?" she nodded while looking up to him "I wanna be close to you, Cuz you make my happy and always knows how to make me smile," she said. "Anyone can catch my eye... but it takes someone special to take my heart, and you're that person,"

He smiled widely at me. "There's something... that I haven't told you yet," She said, grasping his hands. "You know I am... property of the government..." Merope trailed off. "Yeah I do..."

"A few weeks ago... I had a chat with Mearing and they're gonna transfer me to another base... permanently,"

He was staring at her like she was joking and she softly grasped his hands. "Wait... what?" "I didn't want to ruin the time we had... I have no choice, I tried but... I have to leave the base and I will not come back,"
He leaned closer, pressing his head against hers. "No..." he whispered. "I am sorry," the blonde whispered. "You can't leave me," he added quietly. "I don't wanna leave either, Sideswipe... I just don't have a choice, I wish I could stay here with you and cuddle you whenever I want and just be with you Cuz you're the only person in my life that makes me so happy and let me see the joy of life, you're everything for me... I just can't imagine a life without you,"

"I love you, Merope,"
"You know I love you too..." She whispered. Sideswipe smiled as he softly kissed me, his lips so soft and warm. "I don't want you to go..."

She sat up straight when he did too. "I am a shapeshifter, Sideswipe... you know that, you know I can see, hear and smell things normal people can't, I am faster, I am immortal, I have no choice in this... I was going to happen anyways one day,"

"It's hard for me too,"
Sideswipe bit his lip, looking down and nodded. "You're just— my everything," Sideswipe whispered. "I know, sweetie... I know," Merope mumbled. "How do you except me to keep distance from you! We have maybe a couple of weeks spending time together," he said. "Cuz Sunstreaker is going to try to kill me again," I said. He shook his head, nuzzling in my neck. "Whatever happens... you will always have a special place in my heart, Merope..."
