Sideswipe was at work. He found a job at a company. He tries to take it seriously but he's always so playful. It makes him cute but his superiors aren't always happy with him. I had a day off. We made sure that we don't work on the same day for Togo. I sat down on the couch, looking for wedding dresses. Togo barked and whimpered. 'Are you bored?' I got up and grabbed the leash. 'Let's go for a walk then.' I grabbed my coat and keys before leaving.
After thirty minutes, I headed home. 'Merope?' I turned around. 'Optimus?' I blinked in surprise. 'It's been a while,' he said. I was speechless and only able to nod. Ironhide slowly approached. 'How did you find us?' I asked. 'We didn't, we are here for a mission,' Ironhide said. 'Is Sideswipe around?' He asked. 'No, he's at work today. He'll be back around 6 PM,' I said. 'Work?' Ironhide laughed. 'Yeah, he works at local company here.'
'Where do you life?'
I pointed at the house behind us. 'Come.' I walked up to the front door and unlocked it. 'You bought the place?' Optimus asked. 'No, we rented it but we want to buy it. We could either rent it or buy it,' I said while removing the color of our dog. 'Nice place,' Optimus said. 'Yeah, plenty of space of our dog and cats and a large garage for Sides,' I said. They looked around. 'How's it going?' Optimus asked.
'Very good. Sideswipe and I are engaged. He asked me to marry him yesterday,' I said, showing the ring. I was excited he hadn't told anyone yet. 'Congratulations,' Prime said. I smiled, 'so, you're going to start a family?' Ironhide asked. 'I am infertile. Because of the experiments,' I said. 'Doesn't matter, we have two cats and a dog,' I said, waving my hand. 'How's Sunstreaker doing?' I asked. I was almost scared to ask. 'He's devastated. He changed a lot after you two left 10 months ago. He started to drink, a lot,' Optimus said. 'We took him for this mission but he left the highway before we did. I guess he turned back towards base, if he didn't strand in a pub,' Ironhide mocked.
I ohh'ed. 'You'd like to have something to drink?' I asked. 'Coffee is fine,' Prime said. 'For me too,' Ironhide said. We settled in the living room and I told them why we left and how our life here is going. 'Baby?' I looked up. Sideswipe got home early. I got up and walked over to the hall. 'Hi, love.' He pecked my lips. I grabbed his coat. 'We have guests,' I said. He frowned as he kicked his shoes aside and walked into the living room. 'Hello, Sideswipe.' Optimus got up and walked up to him. 'How did you find us? I cloaked my life signal,' he said disappointed. 'By accident. We are on a mission,' he said. Sideswipe sat down while I got him something to drink.
'How's Sunny doing?'
'Not good. He's devastated and started drinking. He's not really useful anymore. He's drunk a big part of the day, barely recharges and really aggressive towards humans. He killed over fifty people,' Ironhide said. 'Oh...' Sideswipe grabbed the glass from my hands. 'Engaged I heard?' Ironhide asked. Sideswipe nodded and grasped my hand. 'I asked her yesterday to be my wife,' he said.
'And a job?' He continued. 'Yeah, it was kinda hard to find one. Most assume I am still in college due to how young I am,' Sideswipe said. 'And you?' Prime asked. 'I work in a hotel,' I replied. 'Well, such a big contrast with how your brother is doing,' Ironhide said as he looked around. I felt a wave of guilt wash over me. What if we made the wrong choice? What if Sunstreaker truly felt horrible about what he did?
That night, I couldn't sleep either. I kept thinking about Sunstreaker. Maybe he really felt jealous. He lost Sideswipe too, the only one that supported him and loved the way he is. I looked at my finance beside me and softly cupped his cheek.
The next day, it was a busy day at the hotel. It was late, around 10 PM when I finished. I crossed the street and heard shouting. The owner of the local pub threw someone outside. The person was obviously drunk and not able to get back up on his feet. The door was slammed shut. I crossed the street again and saw who it was. 'Sunstreaker?' I crouched down and brushed some hair behind my ear. The mech looked up. His eyes were dull, not as icy blue as I had seen before. 'Merope?' He grasped my wrist. 'Don't leave me again,' he muttered and laid his head back on the street. I sighed. 'Come on, Sunshine. Get up.' I pushed him up and supported him. Holding such muscular mech up isn't easy.
I reached my house and opened the front door. 'Sideswipe?' I shouted. The mech responded with a hum. 'Can you help me for a moment?' The mech walked into the hall. 'Sunny?' He grabbed his brother as Sunstreaker lunged for him, hugging him. 'Don't leave me!' Sunstreaker cried. Sideswipe looked at me. 'He was thrown out of the pub. I couldn't let him laying on street,' I said. Sideswipe sat his brother down on the couch.
Sunny was bleeding from his head where he had hit the ground ten minutes prior. Sideswipe laid him down on the couch and grabbed a blanket. Sunstreaker couldn't stop shivering. His dull eyes looked at me. 'Sideswipe... don't leave me.' He hugged his arm while curling up and falling asleep. I glanced at Sideswipe. 'He needs you.'
He ran his hand through his brothers hair. 'Yeah, he does,' he mumbled. I got up and lifted his chin. 'Stay with him,' I mumbled and kissed his lips before heading upstairs. I looked over my shoulder one more and saw Sideswipe curling up next his twin on the couch.
