Chapter 5 | ❝ You owe me two hundred dollars. ❞
Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 - 3:41 p.m.
THERE WERE ONLY two times in Kelsey's life where she remembered doing a happy dance: the first when she and her boyfriend of three years finally got together in the ninth grade, and the second after she had hung up the phone after hearing the news from Zach. She did not exactly take pride in her reaction to the fateful words, but it was something to be happy about.
Kelsey was currently hopping around her room like a certain eight-year-old while her dog, Uno, raced around her in circles. It was quite a positive moment for the two of them, the blonde silently dancing about other than the floor creaking underneath her white socks and the short dachshund hopping with his one and a half ears flapping behind him. So much joy was seldom to Kelsey, especially with the drama revolving around her and her boyfriend.
Losing feelings for someone was much more painful than she realized.
She knew she needed to say something to Jaylen, but whenever Kelsey got the opportunity - which was not often - she chickened out and decided to do it another time. She believed she had all the time in the world.
Kelsey was not innocent in this situation. In fact, she was the opposite, and she was well aware of it. After kissing Zach in the airport upon impulse a couple of days ago, which seemed less and less like impulse to her each time she thought about it, Kelsey found herself filling up with guilt. She needed to tell Jaylen, but when? How?
While she was in the midst of her thoughts, Uno unknowingly ran in front of her path, which caused her to trip. Kelsey landed on the floor with a loud thud, causing Uno to yelp a bit with the contact, but nevertheless, the dog was not injured. In fact, he waddled over and licked her face.
Two pairs of footsteps approached in a matter of seconds and a knock on the door followed after. "Kelsey, Dear, are you okay?" the teenage girl's mother asked worriedly.
"Oh, yeah—sorry!" Kelsey picked herself up off the floor as her bedroom door opened and her parents stood in the doorway.
"What happened?"
Kelsey giggled sheepishly in the direction of the two people, who were confused. "I was doing a happy dance around my room," she replied honestly.
"A happy dance?" laughed Mr. Davis. "For what?"
The blonde's smile grew larger with the inquiry as she plopped herself back down on her bed, Uno jumping up after her. "Do you remember my friend, Zach?"
"The one with the research paper?"
"Yeah, him."
"What about him?" her mother questioned her. She entered the room seconds after.
