Chapter 7 | ❝ Should I take that as a yes-? ❞
Sunday, November 18th, 2018 - 7:03 p.m.
THE ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL Airport was truly an extraordinary sight, especially for someone who had not seen anything for eleven years straight. It did not seem like a big deal, but to Zach, it was. It truly was. Zach's tinted blue eyes were wide as they were able to be without pain as they darted around at every single little thing—the skylights, the open space, the lobby decorations...
...there were even palm trees.
Just five minutes prior, Zach was gawking at the massive airport lobby through the lens of his glasses he had received from the ophthalmologist hours beforehand. The accessory felt foreign on his face, almost as if it was going to poke him in the eye any second, and he felt like he had an itch behind his ears, but it gave him much better vision—not quite twenty-twenty, but Zach's surroundings were clearer than before.
The glasses looked quite nice, however. They fitted Zach's face well and seemed to suit him as if they were there all along. The frames were not thick, nor thin--they were just right. Zach was clearly not used to them yet, but he vowed to himself he would not let them annoy him too terribly much. Zach had many more things to worry about than his new glasses.
He felt a gentle force clamp onto his hand with excitement. "Come on, Zach! Let's go to the Disney store!" Hayleigh cheered over the crowd of tourists and those waiting for flights.
"Do we have time for that?" Zach inquired with a bit of concern.
"Didn't you hear the conversation from five seconds ago?" asked Hayleigh, nearly tugging him away. "Mom and Dad said it was fine—we have a while! Now, come on!"
Zach did not hear the conversation. To be completely honest, he had zoned out. He quickly caved to Hayleigh dragging him inside the Disney store after a quick "goodbye" to their parents. Zach had to catch his glasses from falling off of his face due to the force. They were a little bit loose, but if they were any tighter, Zach would have received a headache.
The eight-year-old girl was more than excited to be looking at the merchandise with the twenty dollar bill in her pocket from her father. Zach was simply content to be able to actually browse a store properly for the first time in years. Hayleigh ran straight for the stuffed animals with her older brother at her heels. The teenager was afraid his little sister would get lost.
Hayleigh bounced up and down as she looked at the stuffed animals from nearly any Disney movie imaginable. Zach had never seen his younger sibling so enthusiastic over a store, but it was definitely something that brought a smile to his face.
"What are you thinking about getting?" Zach questioned his sibling who was nearly climbing in the stuffed animals.
The curly-haired female beamed, "I don't know yet! What do you think?"
